All Kenley Jansen needed was 3 outs, and the Los Angeles Dodgers would have the win. But, the San Francisco Giants just don't quit. Mike Yastrzemski homered, Wilmer Flores hit the game winning homer, and the Giants defeated the Dodgers 4-2 in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night.

Giants manager Gabe Kapler said "I think this group roots pretty hard for Wilmer Flores. He’s been as clutch as any hitter that we’ve had over the course of the last two seasons. This was kind of his M.O. when he was in New York. He’s always been known to be clutch and come up in big spots and kind of thrive in the biggest moments."

Yastrzemski got the Giants started quickly with a first inning solo homer, putting them ahead 1-0 to start. That was all they could manage until the deciding 9th inning. Trailing 2-1, Flores came up and hit the game winning two run homer to center field, putting the Giants up 3-2. Mike Tauchman then scored on a bases loaded walk by Curt Casali to give the Giants an insurance run.

For the Dodgers, Chris Taylor tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first, launching a solo homer to center field. In the 4th inning, AJ Pollock gave the Dodgers a 2-1 lead, with an RBI double to right field, scoring Cody Bellinger.

Jose Alvarez got the victory for the Giants, improving to 3-1 on the season with a scoreless 8th inning. Logan Webb turned in another solid outing for the Giants, allowing two runs on 3 hits and 3 walks, striking out 5 hitters in 5 innings pitched. Jay Jackson and Zack Littell each threw scoreless innings in relief, and Taylor Rogers got his 11th save of the season in the 9th inning.

Webb said of the comeback win that "Tonight just kind of showed the type of team that we are and the type of resiliency that we have as a group. I don’t think that’s going away. That was awesome. I was screaming in the clubhouse. Honestly, it’s weird, but I had no doubt. I had no doubt in my mind something like that was going to happen. When Flo came up, I had a feeling about it. That was awesome. It was really fun."

Jansen got the loss and the blown save, falling to 1-3 this season, and blowing his 4th save. It wasted an outstanding start from Julio Urias, who allowed just one run on 3 hits and one walk, striking out 5 hitters in 7 remarkable innings. Blake Treinen pitched a scoreless 8th, and Victor Gonzalez finished the 9th in relief of Jansen, who was responsible for all 3 9th inning runs.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Jansen's rough night that "I think he said it right, I think he just didn’t have his best stuff. No one’s more frustrated than Kenley because he expects a lot of himself. We just have to keep going and continue to put ourselves in position to win a baseball game."

The Giants and Dodgers wrap up their series tonight, with Anthony DeSclafani getting the start for San Francisco, and Walker Buehler going for the Dodgers.
