The Chicago White Sox entered this game against the Minnesota Twins looking at a barrage of injuries, especially to key players. Nick Madrigal out for the season, Yasmani Grandal out for at least 5 weeks, Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert out until the end of the month at least. They keep winning. Leury Garcia homered, Jake Burger hit an RBI double, and the White Sox cruised past the Minnesota Twins with a 6-1 win Wednesday afternoon.

White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson said "It says a lot about this organization. It says a lot about each and every one of our teammates. We know they come to the ballpark ready to compete. We go out there and give it everything we got, and see what happens."

Garcia got the game going with a two run homer in the second inning, giving the White Sox a 2-0 lead to start. In the 5th, Anderson hit an RBI double to increase it to a 3-1 lead. In the 6th, an RBI triple from Garcia and an RBI double from Burger increased the lead to 5-1 in favor of the White Sox. Brian Goodwin added the exclamation point with an RBI double in the 7th inning, making it 6-1 White Sox.

Garcia had 3 hits on the day, falling just a double short of hitting for the cycle. Burger also picked up his first MLB RBI with his double in the 6th inning, having been with the team for just under a week now.

Chicago manager Tony LaRussa said of Garcia that "He's a really good player. He's a complete defensive player, he's above average everywhere and he can hit from both sides. The pressure, he embraces it. He should never be an unsung hero, because you guys have seen him a lot, he's very important to this club."

Lance Lynn got the win in a solid outing for the White Sox, allowing just one run on 4 hits and 3 walks, recording 6 strikeouts to get the win in 6 innings pitched. Ryan Burr pitched a scoreless 7th inning, Codi Heuer and Garrett Crochet combined to do the same thing in the 8th inning, and Jose Ruiz shut down the Twins in the 9th inning.

For the Twins, Michael Pineda got the loss in a shaky outing, allowing 5 runs while giving up double digit hits, 12 to be specific, striking out 4 hitters in 5 1/3 innings. After Pineda departed, it was Derek Law who allowed one run in 2 2/3 innings pitched, and Caleb Thielbar threw a scoreless 9th inning.

Pineda said of his shaky start that "Sometimes, something happens and you have to figure out how you can help the team and grind. If you pitch, you have to figure it out and try to pitch and pitch good games and help your team. That's what I try to do, and, yeah, I feel like the same Michael Pineda."

The Twins start a series tonight against the Detroit Tigers, with JA Happ pitching the series opening game. Dallas Keuchel starts on Friday night for the White Sox against the Baltimore Orioles, after the team gets a day off on Thursday.
