One of the names that has been dominating trade rumors is finally on the move. The San Diego Padres have acquired 2B/OF Adam Frazier from the Pittsburgh Pirates, in exchange for SS Tucupita Marcano, OF Jack Suwinski, and RHP Michell Miliano, according to ESPN's Kiley McDaniel. The Padres are also getting $1.4 million from the Pirates. The Padres have confirmed the trade.

Padres GM AJ Preller said "He's a winning offensive player, he's a really tough out, he's a quality defender so he has two-way value as well, and we see some versatility also. The biggest thing is, as we go down the stretch and hopefully into October, we want to play guys who we feel like are winning-type at-bats. Winning-type players. He checks a lot of boxes for us."

So far this season, Frazier is hitting .327 with an .844 OPS, hitting 4 homers and driving in 32 runs in 97 games this season. Frazier represented the Pirates at this year's all star game at Coors Field in Denver. In his 6 MLB seasons, all with the Pirates, Frazier has a .283 average with a .767 OPS, with 39 homers and 204 RBI in 607 games.

In addition to an already strong season, Frazier currently leads the league in hits, with 125 so far. He's only the 3rd player in MLB history to be traded midseason, while leading the league in hits, with Willie McGee and Red Schoendienst being the other two. The expectation is Frazier will play the majority of games in the outfield for the Padres, as they already have Jake Cronenworth and Ha-Seong Kim covering second base.

Asked about what he thinks his role will be, Frazier said "I'm assuming I'm gonna bounce around, because I guess I can do that. Being on a team like this, wherever I can help the team win is where I'm gonna be. I'm ready to do that. When the trade happened, I was assuming I'm gonna bounce around everywhere. So I'll be ready."

Marcano is the big piece of the return for the Pirates, ranked as the 5th overall prospect in the Padres system, according to MLB pipeline. He made his MLB debut this season for the Padres, and with Triple A El Paso this season, is hitting .272 with 6 homers in 44 games, also with more walks than strikeouts.

Miliano and Suwinski, the other pieces to the Pirates, are not ranked in the top 30 prospects for the Padres, but have found some success in the minors this season. Miliano has 52 strikeouts in 25 2/3 innings pitched at Single A, with a 2-2 record and a 3.60 ERA. With Double A San Antonio, Suwinski has 15 homers and 37 RBI in 66 games played.

Despite trading for Frazier, the Padres reportedly aren't done adding, as they are also said to be looking to trade for a starting pitcher to add by the July 31 trade deadline.
