Next up on the docket concerning awards week was the manager of the year awards. That's now been settled too. San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler and Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash have been named the NL and AL managers of the year for the 2021 season, as announced by the BBWAA on Tuesday night.

It's the second straight manager of the year win for Cash, who led the Rays to a 100-62 record after an offseason that saw them lose Blake Snell and Charlie Morton, as well as Tyler Glasnow in the middle of the season. Cash is the first AL manager to win in back to back seasons. The Rays had the best record and number one seed in the AL entering the playoffs, only to be bounced by the upstart Boston Red Sox in the ALDS.

As far as voting went, Cash collected 19 first place votes, 3 second place votes, and 5 votes for 3rd place, finishing with 109 points in the voting. Seattle Mariners skipper Scott Servais came in second place after receiving 5 first place votes and 13 second place votes, finishing with 71 points. Houston's Dusty Baker finished with just two first place votes and 5 second place votes, for just 33 points. Rounding out the top 5 was Charlie Montoyo of the Blue Jays and Alex Cora of the Red Sox.

Kapler was a fairly easy choice on the NL side of things, leading the Giants to their best regular season in franchise history, winning 107 games and the NL West title, becoming the first Giants manager to win manager of the year since Baker did it back in 2000. Kapler wins the award in just his second season with the Giants, and just got a contract extension through 2024.

The voting was an absolute blowout for Kapler. He got 28 first place votes and one second place vote, finishing with 143 overall points. In second place was Milwaukee's Craig Counsell, finishing with 75 points after getting one first place vote, 22 second place votes, and 4 3rd place votes. Mike Shildt, recently fired by the Cardinals, had one first place vote, 3 second place votes, and 11 votes for 3rd place, getting 25 points to finish in 3rd place. Rounding out the top 5 was Braves manager Brian Snitker and Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts.

Awards week in baseball rolls on as we hit Wednesday night, with the winners of the AL and NL Cy Young to be announced by the BBWAA, and the MVP for the AL and NL to be revealed on Thursday night.
