More proposals come with more and more minimal changes

Let's take a look at these negotiations that are supposed to be ramping up, oh look the same things keep on happening over and over again. The MLBPA and MLB met for the second straight day on Tuesday, holding multiple bargaining sessions that still ended with little changes in proposals, according to Jesse Rogers of ESPN.

After MLB had made some minor changes in a proposal on Monday, the MLBPA had a similar approach on Tuesday, as both sides met in Jupiter, Florida. The MLBPA reduced the number of teams participating in a draft lottery from 8 to 7, and asked for 75% of players with 2-3 years of service time to qualify for another year of arbitration, down from 80%.

The MLBPA also slightly adjusted their ask regarding minimum salaries. They proposed that minimum salaries start at $775,000 in the first year of whatever the new CBA looks like, and that the minimum increases $30,000 each year, according to Evan Drellich of The Athletic.

In any negotiation session between these two, the CBT, or luxury tax threshold, hasn't been brought up, which is one of the most important issues in the negotiating period. The MLBPA wants the figure to be higher, while MLB only proposed a raise of a few million dollars. MLB also offered federal mediation a second time, which was shot down by the MLBPA a second time.

These changes and tweaks come after almost a 3 hour meeting between both sides inside Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter. Members of the MLBPA and MLB have been negotiating all week as a soft deadline of February 28 approaches to get a deal done without any regular season games being affected, which was set by MLB recently. The sides will be negotiating in person throughout the week.
