LHP Danny Duffy said that he had some unfinished business with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and now he can get to work. Duffy and the Dodgers have agreed to a one year, $7 million deal, with a club option for 2023, according to Robert Murray of FanSided. The Dodgers have confirmed the deal.

In his deal, Duffy can earn up to $10 million this season thanks to games played and innings pitched incentives. He can also get up to $15 million if the option is exercised and he throws at least 150 innings, and $16 million if he throws at least 160 innings. Duffy can max out his contract at two years and $16 million.

Duffy started the 2021 season with the Kansas City Royals, authoring a 4-3 record with a 2.51 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 61 innings, making 12 starts and one relief appearance. He dealt with nagging elbow injuries during the season, and was traded to the Dodgers at the 2021 trade deadline, but didn't end up throwing a single pitch due to his elbow problems.

Across Duffy's 11 year career, having thrown every pitch with the Royals, he has a 68-68 record with a 3.95 ERA, throwing 1,172 1/3 innings, striking out 1,048 hitters and picking up one save in 204 starts and 30 relief appearances. Duffy has a 2-0 record with a 5.06 ERA, throwing 10 2/3 innings in 9 playoff games, all out of the bullpen, including a 2015 world series title with the Royals.

Duffy is the 5th signing of the Dodgers offseason, joining Andrew Heaney, Daniel Hudson, Chris Taylor, and Freddie Freeman, after the Dodgers have lost key players such as Corey Seager and Kenley Jansen in free agency.
