What the Atlanta Braves got for a jolt in their lineup was something that wasn't necessarily expected. Adam Duvall singled in a run, William Contreras hit two homers, and the Braves defeated the Miami Marlins with a 4-3 victory on Saturday night in Miami.

The multi homer game for Contreras marked the second time he's done that this season, and it was the difference maker in the Saturday win. Dating back to last season, Ronald Acuna Jr also increased his on base streak to 28 games, as the Braves won their second straight game, improving to a 19-21 mark this season.

Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said that "It's good to win. It's against a division foe, too. The whole object is to win series, so we did, and we haven't won a lot of them but, you know, it doesn't mean we won't in the future."

After the first 4 innings went scoreless, Contreras got the Braves on the board in the 5th, hitting a solo home run to center field to make it 1-0 Braves. In the top of the 6th, both Duvall and Marcell Ozuna contributed RBI singles, making it a 3-0 lead for the Braves. In the bottom of the 6th, Jorge Soler doubled in Garrett Cooper, getting the Marlins on the board to make it a 3-1 game.

In the 7th inning, Contreras got that run back, hitting his second home run of the night, a solo homer to center field to make it a 4-1 Braves lead. In the 8th, Cooper scored on a fielders choice from Brian Anderson to make it 4-2. In the 9th, Cooper hit an RBI double to cut the deficit to 4-3, but they couldn't score again.

Contreras said of his two homer game that "Yesterday when I showed up to the ballpark I joked and said, ‘What would happen if William Contreras hit two home runs tonight.' And so I showed up to the ballpark again today with the same joke, saying, ‘What would happen if William Contreras hit two home runs today?’ And Arcia said, ‘No, it's not ‘What would happen?’ It's happening tonight.’ So, you know, I'm thankful for all the support and encouragement my teammates always give me."

Getting the start and win for the Braves was Kyle Wright, who improved to 4-2 this season. Wright allowed just two hits and 3 walks while pitching 5 scoreless innings. Darren O'Day got one out in the 6th before Jackson Stephens threw 1 2/3 innings in relief. AJ Minter and Kenley Jansen pitched the 8th and 9th innings, with Jansen getting his 10th save of the season.

For the Marlins, Elieser Hernandez got the loss, allowing one run on just 3 hits and one walk, lasting 5 innings. Tanner Scott and Dylan Floro combined to work the 6th, with Scott allowing two runs. Cody Poteet allowed one run in his two innings of work, with Tommy Nance adding a scoreless 9th inning.

Marlins skipper Don Mattingly said that "We had chances again, and it's not something you want to keep talking about, but you have some opportunities. We've talked about this a lot. It sounds a little bit like a broken record. But we've got to find a way to push those runs across when we get opportunities. It's really been a theme in general so far."

Up next, the Braves and Marlins conclude their series on Sunday afternoon, with the Braves sending Ian Anderson to the mound, while the Marlins counter with Sandy Alcantara.
