You may not want to look now, but the Boston Red Sox may be heating up. Jackie Bradley Jr drove in two runs, Trevor Story blasted 3 home runs, and the Red Sox rolled past the Seattle Mariners with a 12-6 victory on Thursday night in Boston.

After he was booed off the field by the Boston crowd after a 0-4 game with 4 strikeouts against the Los Angeles Angels, Story turned things around on the road, picking up his play in Atlanta and Texas, before coming home and swatting 3 home runs for 7 RBI's as the Red Sox started their weekend series. Story heating up is a reason why the Red Sox are 6-4 in their last 10 games, and winning two straight.

Story said after the game that "Baseball is the most challenging sport in the world. I feel like on an everyday basis, you’re going to be challenged, especially here. It’s something that I take a lot of pride in, trying to be very even-keeled about it all. I just believe that the hard work pays off eventually, but yeah, slumps are always very challenging."

In the top of the second inning, the Mariners took a 4-0 lead when Dylan Moore blasted a 3 run home run to center field, and Ty France added an RBI double. In the bottom of the second, Story belted a two run home run, cutting the deficit to 4-2. In the 3rd, Story tied the game 4-4 with his second home run of the night, also a two run shot.

In the 6th inning, Alex Verdugo scored on a single from Story, plus an error from Julio Rodriguez, putting the Red Sox ahead 5-4. Story then scored on an RBI double from Bradley Jr to make it 6-4. In the 7th inning, Bobby Dalbec and Bradley Jr each took bases loaded walks, while Christian Vazquez was hit by a pitch, driving in 3 runs to make it a 9-4 Red Sox lead.

In the top of the 8th, the Mariners got one back with a bases loaded walk of their own, making it a 9-5 game. Story then blasted his 3rd homer of the night, a 3 run shot to make it 12-5. Rodriguez got one back for the Mariners with a solo homer in the 9th, but the damage was done.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said of Story's play that "I mean, the at-bats are getting better. He keeps working hard at it. And he’s a good athlete. He will hit, we know that. He’s feeling comfortable in the environment. It’s just a matter of time."

Rich Hill got the start and lasted just two innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. Tanner Houck handled 4 innings in relief, getting the win to improve to 3-3 this season. John Schreiber then pitched a scoreless 7th inning, followed by appearances from Hirokazu Sawamura, Matt Strahm, and Ryan Brasier.

For the Mariners, rookie George Kirby got a bit roughed up in his start, taking his first loss. Kirby allowed 5 runs on 8 hits over 5 innings of work. Sergio Romo allowed one run, followed by two runs from Anthony Misiewicz, one run from Wyatt Mills, and 3 runs from Danny Young. No Mariners reliever had a scoreless appearance.

Kirby said of his rough start after the game that "I just didn’t really get ahead a lot. It kind of put me in bad situations and counts. I could have used my pitches more, for sure. Getting ahead was the biggest thing."

Up next, the Red Sox and Mariners continue their series on Friday night. Michael Wacha will start for Boston as he returns from the IL, and Robbie Ray goes for the Mariners.
