For the sake of baseball, I hope the Los Angeles Angels continue to stay this good. Andrew Velazquez doubled in a run, Mike Trout hit a home run, and the Angels held off a rally to defeat the Chicago White Sox with a 6-5 victory on Sunday afternoon in Chicago.

The win for the Angels marks another win, picking up their 7th win in 8 games. The Angels possess a 15-8 record thanks to a hot start to the season, sitting in first place in the AL West. Starter Michael Lorenzen put up a fantastic outing, carrying 8 shutout innings before things unraveled in the 9th inning.

Lorenzen said of his start that "I felt really good. I didn’t throw too many stressful pitches the entire game. I was trying to get them to get themselves out on the ground or with weak contact. I might’ve reached back on three pitches. So I feel really good with where I’m at and how I feel going into my next start."

Trout got the Angels on the board immediately, hitting a solo home run in the first inning, with his center field blast putting the Angels up 1-0 early. In the 3rd inning, an RBI groundout from Shohei Ohtani and a sac fly from Anthony Rendon triple the Angels lead to a 3-0 mark. Velazquez then made it a 4-0 game with an RBI double.

In the top of the 9th inning, Jack Mayfield hit an RBI single to make it a 5-0 Angels lead. Jo Adell then hit an RBI double to make it a 6-0 game. In the bottom half, a two run double from Leury Garcia made it a 6-2 game, getting the White Sox on the board. Garcia then scored on an RBI double from Harrison. Tim Anderson hit an RBI single to make it a 6-4 game. Jose Abreu drove in a run on a hit by pitch to make it 6-5, but that ended the rally.

White Sox outfielder Luis Robert said of the comeback attempt that "That's the team that we are. We were almost able to come back in the ninth and it was good for us. That’s the team from now on that everybody’s going to see, day in and day out."

Lorenzen put up a great start, having 8 shutout innings under his belt, leading to him beginning the 9th inning. Things unraveled from there, with him being charged with 3 runs while getting just one out. Raisel Iglesias lasted 1/3 of an inning while allowing two runs, with Ryan Tepera getting the final out to get the save, his first of the season.

Angels manager Joe Maddon said of giving Lorenzen the 9th that "I really felt strongly about him finishing that thing up. He was fine going into the ninth inning and he looked really strong to me. It just didn't happen. It was tight at the end but I love the fact we held on and won the game. That speaks volumes for us."

Dallas Keuchel got the start and another loss for the White Sox. His struggles continued, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and 5 walks in 5 innings pitched. Ryan Burr and Jose Ruiz each completed scoreless innings, before Tanner Banks gave up two runs in 1 1/3 innings, leading to a scoreless appearance from Matt Foster.

The Angels and White Sox conclude their series on Monday afternoon in Chicago, with Patrick Sandoval getting the start for the Angels, and Dylan Cease going for the White Sox.
