Ever since they traded Josh Hader, the Milwaukee Brewers have been looking to break out of the funk they've been in. Kolten Wong had a two run hit, Andrew McCutchen drove in two runs, and the Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays with a 5-3 victory on Tuesday night in Milwaukee.

Since they traded Hader to the San Diego Padres a day before the trade deadline, the Brewers have been skidding a bit. They've won just 4 of their last 10 games, and lost their lead on the NL Central to the rival St. Louis Cardinals. They hope that with this win, they can start to turn it around a little bit.

McCutchen said of the standings that "Everyone looks at it. You can’t help but see it even when you’re not looking for it. I’m a big baseball fan, so I’m always watching baseball. I’m always following what’s going on. I see that, of course. But I also understand we’ve just got to take care of business. Whatever’s ahead of us, in front of us, take care of that. Be where your feet are."

Early in the game, McCutchen got it started, scoring Christian Yelich with an RBI double in the first inning to put the Brewers up early. One inning later, Luis Urias came around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Tyrone Taylor, doubling the Brewers lead to 2-0. In the 3rd inning, Yandy Diaz erased the lead, getting the Rays on the board with a two run home run, tying the game at a 2-2 score.

With two runners on in the 5th, McCutchen came through again, scoring Willy Adames with a single to make it a 3-2 Brewers lead. McCutchen and Rowdy Tellez then scored on a double from Wong, which made it a 5-2 game. In the 7th, an RBI double from Jose Siri made it 5-3, but the Rays couldn't score again.

Freddy Peralta got the start for the Brewers, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out 4 hitters in 5 innings pitched. Trevor Gott, Hoby Milner, and Brad Boxberger each threw one inning, before Matt Bush came out of the bullpen and recorded the save, just his second of the season and first as a Brewer.

After the game, Taylor said of Bush's first save in Milwaukee "That was his first save here, right? That’s good for him, and hopefully we can roll off that. That man throws hard. It's fun watching him pitch."

The Rays went with a bullpen game in this one, with Jimmy Yacabonis pitching the first inning as an opener. Ryan Yarbrough was next and handled 3 1/3 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits while taking the loss. Ryan Thompson went 2/3 of an inning, followed by one inning from Jalen Beeks and two from Shawn Armstrong.

Up next, the Brewers and Rays wrap up their series on Wednesday afternoon. Brandon Woodruff draws the start for the Brewers, while Jeffrey Springs goes for the Rays.
