One of the most rumored in trade talks is no longer available. The New York Yankees have acquired RHP Frankie Montas and RHP Lou Trivino from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for LHP's Ken Waldichuk and JP Sears, 2B Cooper Bowman, and RHP Luis Medina, according to Jack Curry of YES.

This trade by the Yankees is another move in a busy trade deadline. They've already acquired OF Andrew Benintendi from the Kansas City Royals, and RHP Scott Effross from the Chicago Cubs, and now they have added Montas and Trivino from the A's, bolstering every part of their roster while trading away a slew of prospects.

So far with the Athletics this season, Montas has a 4-9 record with a 3.18 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, adding a 3.36 FIP with 109 strikeouts, tossing 104 2/3 innings for Oakland this season, totaling 19 starts. The A's are 39-65 this season and are 28 1/2 games behind the Houston Astros in the AL West.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that "Montas is a great pitcher. There’s been rumors around him most of the first half of the season. I’m excited we were able to push through on a deal for him. His level of talent, especially with how he’s pitched the last couple of years, I’m just excited to get him into the mix."

Also coming to the Yankees is Trivino, who will figure to be one of the setup men in the Yankees bullpen. Trivino has a 1-6 record with a 6.47 ERA and 1.87 WHIP, notching 10 saves in 32 innings pitched, totaling 39 relief appearances for the Athletics.

The only piece with major league experience coming back is Sears, who made his MLB debut this season. With the Yankees this season, Sears has a 3-0 record with a 2.05 ERA and 0.86 WHIP, throwing 22 innings in two starts and 5 relief appearances.

The biggest part of the return for the Athletics is Waldichuk, one of the Yankees higher rated prospects. With Double A Somerset and Triple A Scranton/Wilkes Barre this season, Waldichuk has a 6-3 record with a 2.71 ERA and 1.14 WHIP, throwing 76 1/3 innings in 17 starts.

Another part of the return is Bowman, a middle infielder who can play both shortstop and second base. With High A Hudson Valley this season, Bowman has a .217 average with a .698 OPS, hitting 8 home runs and driving in 35 runs and stealing 35 bases in 80 games this season.

The final piece of the return is Medina, a right handed starter. With Double A Somerset this season, Medina has a 4-3 record with a 3.38 ERA and 1.19 WHIP, throwing 72 innings in 17 starts for Somerset.

For the Yankees, Montas becomes another good starter in a Yankees rotation that consists of Gerrit Cole, Luis Severino, Jameson Taillon, and Jordan Montgomery. Trivino joins the high leverage bullpen mix, while the A's will likely send Sears, Waldichuk, Bowman, and Medina to different minor league levels.
