Philadelphia leads series 2-1
This postseason, the relentlessness of the Philadelphia Phillies has been pretty well documented. Kyle Schwarber homered, Jean Segura starred, and the Phillies defeated the San Diego Padres with a 4-2 victory on Friday night in Philadelphia.

Game two in San Diego saw the Phillies get punched in the mouth in a series tying win for the Padres. They came home and got right back up, seemingly staying one step ahead of the Padres, pulling ahead and staying ahead. Now, they're two wins away from the World Series, and Segura is a big reason why.

At the plate, Segura drove in two runs. It came on a single to right center field that saw Segura reach down to almost the dirt to get his bat on it, but it drove in the two runs regardless. In the field, Segura took away a base hit from Ha-Seong Kim in the 7th inning, throwing him out at first to end the inning and thwart a potential rally.

Segura said after the game that "I like the pressure. Regardless, I just want to thank God that I would be able to come through in those types of moments. But I love it. Even when I made a mistake early in the game, there were a lot of things going through my mind. You know what? It's another game. Maybe I get an opportunity later in the game to win the game or maybe to do something special tonight."

Schwarber got the Phillies started immediately. As the first batter of the Phillies half of the first inning, he blasted a solo home run to right field, making it 1-0 to start. In the 4th, a fielding error from Segura and a fielders choice from Jake Cronenworth brought in a run for the Padres to tie the game 1-1. Segura made up for it in the bottom of the 4th with a two run single to make it 3-1.

One inning later, in the 5th, Kim got the Padres a run back, scoring Trent Grisham on a groundout to cut the deficit to 3-2. Ultimately, the Phillies got that run back, with Alec Bohm doubling home Nick Castellanos in the 6th inning, making it a 4-2 lead for the Phillies.

Getting the start for the Phillies was Ranger Suarez, who had a solid start, allowing two runs on two hits in 5 innings to get the win. Zach Eflin and Jose Alvarado pitched a scoreless inning each, with Seranthony Dominguez working the final two innings to get the 6 out save.

Phillies catcher JT Realmuto said of the bullpen "That’s the difference between this season and seasons past for me. We have guys we can rely on back there. And when we get a lead late in the game, we have a lot of confidence in the guys. Once we got to the seventh, I was pretty sure that we were going to get those three innings with just those two guys."

For the Padres, San Diego native Joe Musgrove was the starter, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, pitching 5 2/3 innings. Tim Hill took care of business with a scoreless inning after Musgrove left, and Pierce Johnson worked 1 1/3 shutout innings to wrap it up.

Padres catcher Austin Nola said of the loss that "We’re definitely going to look back and see that we had chances, for sure. I thought we were right there, seemingly every inning. Over seven games, that’s going to be good. If we continue to do that, it’s going to be really good."

Up next, game 4 of the series is on Saturday night in Philadelphia. The Phillies will look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead with Bailey Falter getting the start, while the Padres try to tie the series again with Mike Clevinger taking the mound.
