For this pitcher, he will not be playing for a 4th team in 4 years. The Arizona Diamondbacks and RHP Zach Davies have agreed to a one year, $5 million deal, according to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. The D-Backs have confirmed the move.

Davies spent last season with the D-Backs, and saw an improvement from what turned out to be a ghastly 2021 season. He was a free agent after declining a mutual option, and gets a salary improvement from $1.75 million to $5 million. He has another $3 million in bonuses.

Last season was the first season in Arizona for Davies. He ended that year with a 1.30 WHIP, 4.09 ERA, and 4.83 FIP, striking out 102 hitters while walking 52, making 27 starts while throwing 134 1/3 innings in 2022.

The re-signing of Davies gives the D-Backs another veteran face alongside Madison Bumgarner and Zac Gallen in the rotation. The rotation in Arizona figures to have a host of young pitchers competing for a spot, with Drey Jameson, Tommy Henry, and Ryne Nelson among the highly regarded pitchers in the organization seemingly ready for major league innings.

Davies has played for 4 different teams in 8 major league seasons. He has a career 4.14 ERA, 4.47 FIP, and 1.33 WHIP, striking out 713 hitters while walking 326. Davies has thrown 966 innings while logging 182 starts in those 8 years. He has a 9.00 ERA over two starts and one relief appearance in the playoffs, throwing 8 innings.

Scott McGough and Miguel Castro are the new additions to the pitching that the D-Backs have made this offseason. On the hitting side, they've added Gabriel Moreno, Lourdes Gurriel Jr, Diego Castillo, and Kyle Lewis.
