With most of the major moves out of the way, some minor dealings are still happening. The Atlanta Braves have acquired LHP Lucas Luetge from the New York Yankees in exchange for RHP Indigo Diaz and IF Caleb Durbin, according to both teams.

After signing reliever Tommy Kahnle, the Yankees DFA'd Luetge, and now he's on the move to the Braves. This offseason is his second year of arbitration eligibility and he is projected to earn $1.7 million in 2023.

Luetge has been a lefty specialist in his career, holding lefty hitters to a .587 OPS in his career. Luetge went 6 years between major league appearances, pitching for the Seattle Mariners in one game in 2015 before making the Yankees roster out of spring training in 2021. He originally debuted with the Mariners in 2012 as a rule 5 draft choice from the Milwaukee Brewers.

The 2022 season was Luetge's second with the Yankees after his major league absence. He ended the season with 60 strikeouts and 17 walks, recording a 2.67 ERA and 1.40 WHIP, adding a 3.02 FIP in 57 1/3 innings pitched over 50 relief outings. He was left off the Yankees 2022 postseason roster.

Luetge has parts of 6 major league seasons to his name, split between 4 years with the Mariners and two with the Yankees. In that time, he has compiled a 3.38 ERA, 3.47 FIP, and 1.35 WHIP, appearing in 218 games, all but one of those being relief appearances. He has 212 strikeouts to 79 walks in 218 2/3 innings pitched.

One piece coming back to the Yankees is Diaz, who spent the 2022 season pitching for Double A Mississippi in the Braves organization. He ended the year with a 3.08 ERA and 1.21 WHIP, striking out 63 hitters while picking up 4 saves in 49 appearances, totaling 49 2/3 innings pitched.

Durbin is the other piece of the return for the Yankees, having played shortstop, second base, and 3rd base in his professional career. He spent 2022 split between Low A  Augusta and High A Rome, compiling a .241 batting average, .352 on base percentage, and .724 OPS, hitting 8 home runs with 62 RBI's in 105 games.
