For the second time in this veteran's career, it's reunion time. The Oakland Athletics and RHP Jeurys Familia have agreed to a one year major league contract, according to Robert Murray of FanSided. The team has confirmed.

Financial terms of the contract were not revealed. Familia was in spring training with the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he was released on Friday despite only allowing one run in 8 appearances. He's now back with the Athletics after spending the second half of the 2018 season with Oakland, where he appeared in 30 games.

The 2022 season was the worst year of Familia's big league career. Split between the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox, Familia posted a 6.09 ERA, 1.81 WHIP, and 4.94 FIP, throwing 44 1/3 innings over 48 appearances, 38 came with the Phillies.

Familia's lone all star season came with the New York Mets in 2016, when he had 67 saves in his 5th year with the team. A year before, he had a 1.85 ERA while saving 43 games in 76 appearances. Familia has played for the Mets, Athletics, Phillies, and Red Sox in the majors.

Split between those 4 teams, Familia has played in the majors for 11 years. In that time, he has compiled a 3.51 ERA, 3.56 FIP, and 1.35 WHIP, making 547 appearances while throwing 543 innings. All but one of Familia's appearances have been in relief. He has a 2.16 ERA and a 0.60 WHIP in 16 2/3 innings in the postseason, making 14 appearances.

In order to make room on the 40 man roster for Familia, the Athletics placed LHP Kirby Snead on the 60 Day IL with a left shoulder sprain.
