Waiting for a home in 2023, Dylan Bundy finally found one. Bundy and the New York Mets have agreed to a minor league contract, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. The Mets have confirmed the signing.

After the Mets lost starting pitcher Jose Quintana due to a rib injury, the team was going to use depth pieces like David Peterson and Tylor Megill in bigger roles. To keep that supply of depth at the start of the season, they brought in the veteran Bundy to shore it up. He's a late arrival in spring training, so he's expected to begin the year in extended spring training before likely reporting to Triple A Syracuse.

Bundy spent the 2022 season with the Minnesota Twins, his only season in the AL Central. Bundy posted a 4.89 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 4.66 FIP in a Twins uniform, throwing 140 innings while making 29 starts. His $11 million team option was declined by the Twins at the start of the offseason.

In Mets camp, Bundy has plenty of familiar faces from previous teams. Manager Buck Showalter is the most notable, with Bundy playing under him in Baltimore. GM Billy Eppler was with the Los Angeles Angels when Bundy was traded there, and Mets bullpen coach Dom Chiti was also with the Orioles alongside Showalter.

Bundy was chosen by the Orioles with the 4th overall pick in the 2011 draft, ranked as the second best prospect in baseball entering the 2013 season by MLB Pipeline. Unable to reach the upper 90s in fastball velocity thanks to injuries, Bundy will look to get his career back on track with the Mets.

In his career, Bundy has suited up for the Orioles, Angels, and Twins since making his major league debut. He has recorded a 4.74 ERA, 4.68 FIP, and 1.30 WHIP, making 162 starts and 28 relief appearances in the majors, totaling 910 2/3 innings pitched.
