No one goes 0-162 in a baseball season, everyone wins games. Jurickson Profar drove in 3 runs, Ezequiel Tovar had a two RBI game, and the Colorado Rockies shut out the Cleveland Guardians 6-0 on Monday in Cleveland.

The win gives the Rockies just their second in their last 13 games, with their record now 7-17, dead last in the NL West. Between 3 RBI's at the plate from Profar and a shutout start from Austin Gomber, the Rockies started off the series on the right foot.

Asked about his start, Gomber said that "I felt I was able to have a good bullpen and prepare the right way. Then I woke up today and didn’t know how I was going to feel. Today is game day and I felt like I had been feeling the last few days. The weight was off my shoulders. I was in a better spot. All I was trying to do was give myself a chance to compete."

The scoring got going right away for the Rockies. In the first inning, Profar blasted a solo home run to right field, giving the Rockies a 1-0 lead right away. They wouldn't score again until the 4th inning. Tovar broke the ice for the Rockies, making it a 3-0 game with a two run single that scored Mike Moustakas and Elias Diaz.

Later in the 4th, it was Profar's turn to deliver again. With the bases loaded, he delivered a single to left field, scoring Tovar and Brenton Doyle to open the lead to a 5-0 margin. One inning later, Alan Trejo picked up another insurance run, singling to left center field to plate Moustakas and make it a 6-0 game.

Gomber got the win to improve to 1-4 this season, pitching the first 5 innings and striking out 3 hitters. Jake Bird came out of the bullpen and pitched the next two innings, leading to one inning apiece from Pierce Johnson and Justin Lawrence to close out the win.

Rockies manager Bud Black said of Gomber's start that "I'd have to really go back and look at the video, but from their swings it looked as though his location was solid. His stuff was good, too. The velocity was up a tick overall, but the curveball came into play and the slider. Not many changeups today, which is encouraging because the biggest strength is the four-pitch mix."

Starting on the mound for the Guardians was Cal Quantrill, who couldn't get a long start in the loss. Quantrill allowed 5 runs on 8 hits, lasting just 3 1/3 innings. Nick Sandlin finished the 4th before Tim Herrin allowed one run in 1 2/3 innings. Xzavion Curry pitched the final 3 1/3 innings.

Up next, the series continues with game two on Tuesday night. The Rockies will start Ryan Feltner, while Peyton Battenfield gets the start for the Guardians.
