There's nothing like a good getaway game rout. Masataka Yoshida drove in two runs, Jarren Duran had a 3 RBI game, and the Boston Red Sox defeated the Minnesota Twins with a 11-5 victory on Thursday afternoon in Boston.

With the win, the Red Sox secured the series win with two wins in 3 games against the Twins. The Red Sox are an even 5-5 in their last 10 games and 10-10 on the season. In addition to 5 RBI's from Duran and Yoshida, the Red Sox got two home runs in the win.

Alex Verdugo gave the Red Sox an early 1-0 lead with a leadoff solo homer in the first inning. In the 3rd inning, Rafael Devers hit an RBI double, Yoshida hit an RBI single, Connor Wong had a two run single, and Duran had a two run double to make it a 7-0 lead for the Red Sox. In the top of the 5th, Max Kepler got one back for the Twins with an RBI double.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Red Sox opened up a 10-1 lead thanks to a sac fly from Duran and a two run home run by Yu Chang. In the 7th inning, Willi Castro hit a two run home run to make it a 10-3 game before Yoshida hit an RBI single to make it 11-3. The Twins got two runs in the 9th on RBI singles from Christian Vazquez and Edouard Julien.

Getting the start for the Red Sox in the finale was Tanner Houck. He got the win, throwing 7 innings and allowing 3 runs while striking out 7 hitters. Kaleb Ort pitched a scoreless 8th inning, while Ryan Brasier allowed two runs in the 9th.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Houck was "Very aggressive in the zone. Set the tempo for that outing in the first inning. If he can harness his stuff in the strike zone, he can go deeper into the game. It’s not about his ability or third time through the lineup, it’s kind of like, if he's efficient, the stuff is going to be better, and then he can do that."

It was Kenta Maeda on the mound for the Twins, allowing one run while lasting only two innings after he was struck on the leg by a line drive. Emilio Pagan allowed 6 runs over 1 2/3 innings, with Jorge Alcala allowing 3 in 2 1/3 innings. Jovani Moran and Willi Castro also pitched.

Maeda said of getting struck that "I wasn’t sure if I cracked the bone or not. It just happened so quickly. I saw the ball drop right in front of me, and my first instinct was grab the ball, throw the ball, get the out. You saw me collapse after making that play, so there was excruciating pain there."

Up next, the Red Sox travel for a series with the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend, with Nick Pivetta starting on Friday. Tyler Mahle starts for the Twins when they face the Washington Nationals on Friday.
