New celebration, no problem for these birds. Adley Rutschman homered, Ryan Mountcastle had a homer of his own, and the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Oakland Athletics with a 5-1 victory on Monday night in Baltimore.

The Orioles were able to move to .500 on the season at a 5-5 record with the win. They unleashed the bats in this game, riding a 3 home run wave to the series opening win. The Orioles also unleashed a new home run celebration, where water goes in the funnel and down the hose to the mouth of the waiting player.

Ramon Laureano gave the A's a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with an RBI triple that scored Aledmys Diaz. Mountcastle debuted the home run celebration in the bottom of the first with a two run home run to center field, giving the Orioles a 2-1 lead.

When the 3rd inning came around, Rutschman was next in the homer line, hitting a solo home run to left field, giving the Orioles a 3-1 lead. Austin Hays was next in the 6th inning, making the Orioles lead 4-1 with a solo home run to center field. Hays then scored on an RBI single from Ramon Urias in the 8th inning to make it a 5-1 lead for the Orioles.

Veteran Kyle Gibson got the start for the Orioles, getting the win to move to 3-0 this season. Gibson allowed one run on 5 hits in 6 1/3 innings, striking out 4 hitters. Bryan Baker finished the 7th inning before Cionel Perez and Felix Bautista provided scoreless relief appearances to seal the win.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said of Gibson's performance "That was a true veteran performance there. He had a tough time finding it. He was missing off the edge a little bit, and then got into a great groove."

It was JP Sears who got the start for the Athletics, getting tagged for 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk in 5 innings, getting credited with the loss. Jeurys Familia got two outs while allowing a run, requiring Sam Moll to finish the 6th inning. Zach Jackson pitched a scoreless 7th inning, and Domingo Acevedo allowed a run in the 8th.

Sears said of the game and his start that "The lack of runs, there is no extra pressure. I have to go out there and do my job regardless. I don’t look at it like that. The boys are grinding, too, on our side of the field. I just need to be better early in the game and be sharper early."

Up next, the series continues for both teams on Tuesday. Grayson Rodriguez starts for the Orioles, opposed by Kyle Muller for the Athletics.
