How's this for a rally? Mike Yastrzemski homered, Blake Sabol delivered the walk off, and the San Francisco Giants rallied to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals with a 5-4 victory on Tuesday night in San Francisco.

The win gives the Giants their second win of the series and their 4th in a row as they improve to 10-13 on the season, sitting in 4th place in the NL West. In this game, it was Sabol, a rule 5 draft pick from the Pittsburgh Pirates, who played hero with the biggest hit of his career.

In the second inning, the Giants took a 1-0 lead when Thairo Estrada stole second base and then scored on a throwing and fielding error from the Cardinals. In the 3rd inning, Tommy Edman tied the game for the Cardinals with a solo home run. Yastrzemski answered back in the 4th, giving the Giants a 2-1 lead with a solo shot of his own.

When the 8th inning hit, Tyler O'Neill tied it for the Cardinals with an RBI double to right field. O'Neill and Edman then scored on a two run single by Paul Goldschmidt, making it a 4-2 lead for the Cardinals. Yastrzemski cut the deficit to 4-3 in the 9th inning on an RBI double. That set the stage for Sabol, who hit a walk off home run to give the Giants a 5-4 win.

Sabol said of the homer that "That was probably one of the best moments of my life. I knew I got all of that one. As soon as I heard the sound off the bat, I felt it. I didn’t even look. I don’t even know where the ball went. I kind of bat flipped and started yelling and screaming. I kind of blacked out from that moment on. Just jumping up and down with my teammates. That was a lot of fun."

The Giants went with a bullpen game. John Brebbia got the first 4 outs, with Sean Manaea getting the next 4. Jakob Junis pitched an inning, followed by both Taylor and Tyler Rogers pitching. Scott Alexander, Camilo Doval, and Sean Hjelle also pitched.

Jake Woodford got the start for the Cardinals, allowing two runs on 5 hits while pitching 5 1/3 innings. Genesis Cabrera pitched the next 1 2/3 innings, followed by a scoreless inning from Giovanny Gallegos. Ryan Helsley got the loss by pitching the 9th inning.

Helsley said of giving up the walk off that it was "Just a bad location; felt good all night, and I made one bad pitch, and I ended up paying the price for it. Any time you are out there, you want to do well and help the team win. Obviously, we’re on a skid right now and we’re trying to go about it one day at a time and go from here."

Up next, game 3 of the series is on Wednesday night. The Giants start Anthony DeSclafani as they go for the series win, while Steven Matz starts for the Cardinals.
