With two outs, they pulled off a stunning feat. JP Crawford drove in 3 runs, Jose Caballero drove in two, and the Seattle Mariners rallied to defeat the Houston Astros with a 7-5 victory on Saturday night in Seattle.

Down 3 runs entering the 8th inning, the Mariners had two outs in the 8th, looking like the inning was about to end. Instead, they scored 7 runs in the inning after that, pulling off a stunning comeback against the Astros, who they are trying to chase in the AL West.

Mariners manager Scott Servais said that "When you do an inning like that, you're going to need a few things to go your way, and we got them. We got a few breaks. We haven't had a lot on the offensive side lately."

Kyle Tucker started the scoring in the 4th inning, giving the Astros a 1-0 lead on a sac fly. Yordan Alvarez then scored on an RBI single from Jeremy Pena, doubling the lead to 2-0. In the 5th, an RBI double from Alvarez made it a 3-0 Astros lead. Crawford started the rally in the 8th with a 3 run double to clear the bases and tie the score 3-3.

Caballero then gave the Mariners the lead, doubling in two runs to put the Mariners ahead 5-3. Julio Rodriguez then singled in Caballero to make it 6-3 Mariners. An RBI single from Jarred Kelenic made it a 7-3 lead. In the 9th, Jake Meyers got two runs back for the Astros with a double, making the score 7-5, which held up.

Servais said the comeback was a "Big confidence boost for us to come back in that game tonight because, offensively, we had some chances early, but we kind of looked dead in the water. I was concerned, I think is an understatement. But credit to our guys, they keep battling."

It was Marco Gonzales who got the start for the Mariners, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings pitched. Juan Then and Taylor Saucedo each threw scoreless innings, with Saucedo getting the win. Paul Sewald allowed two runs in the 9th inning but was able to close the game.

JP France got the start for the Astros, pitching 5 scoreless innings in his MLB debut, striking out 5 hitters. Phil Maton and Hector Neris provided scoreless innings out of the bullpen before Rafael Montero allowed 4 runs while getting two outs in the 8th. Ryne Stanek finished the inning, allowing 3 runs.

France said of his debut that "By getting out of that first inning, it helped me relax a little bit more. Going through those five innings, everything felt good. It’s just surreal being out there. Facing those guys now and knowing I can do that, it’s definitely going to shoot my confidence through the roof even more. It’s an amazing experience."

Up next, the series concludes on Sunday afternoon. Bryce Miller toes the rubber as he starts for the Mariners, while the Astros start Brandon Bielak.
