Early and often was the scoring strategy in this one. Nathaniel Lowe homered, Marcus Semien added a homer, and the Texas Rangers routed the Seattle Mariners with a 16-6 victory on Saturday in Arlington.

The Rangers continue their torrid start to the season, sitting at a 37-20 record and continuing to lead the AL West thanks to 8 wins in their last 10 games. Semien, Lowe, Leody Taveras, and Corey Seager each drove in 3 runs for the Rangers, who scored 6 runs in the first two innings.

But Semien was the star of the show in this one. In addition to his 3 RBI's, Semien homered and hit two doubles, recording a 4 hit day. That extended his career best on base streak to 30 games, the longest active streak in baseball. His hitting streak was also extended to 22 games, a career high as well.

Semien said of the Rangers offense that "We're starting to see trends, so we’re being smart and being students of the game. Guys have talent here. So we’re putting all these things together and seeing what we're doing. I think that we still haven't even shown our full potential yet either. It's going to be fun to get to the summer and see what we can do."

Jarred Kelenic hit an RBI single in the top of the first inning to make it 1-0 Mariners. Seager then hit an RBI single and Jonah Heim hit a two run double in the bottom of the inning to put the Rangers ahead 3-1. A two run double by Seager and an RBI single from Lowe in the second inning made the Rangers lead a 6-1 margin.

Jose Caballero hit an RBI double in the top of the 4th, followed by a run scoring fielders choice to cut the Mariners deficit to 6-3. Adolis Garcia then singled in a run to make it a 7-3 game. Taveras then blasted a 3 run homer to make it 10-3 and break the game open. Semien then made it 13-3 with another 3 run shot in the 7th.

Later in the 7th inning, Lowe padded the lead even more, hitting a two run home run to make the score 15-3 for the Rangers. A Mitch Garver solo shot in the 8th made it a 16-3 game. In the 9th inning, an RBI single from Ty France and a two run single for Teoscar Hernandez plated 3 runs for the Mariners and made the final score 16-6.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said of the success at the plate that "It's a deep lineup. These guys throw out great at-bats throughout the order. When you get 10 hits with the first three hitters, nine RBIs, usually good things are going to happen."

Andrew Heaney was the starter for the Rangers, lasting 3 innings and allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks. Josh Sborz got the win with two scoreless innings in relief. Jose Leclerc then worked two scoreless innings, followed by one from Cole Ragans. John King worked the 3 run 9th for Seattle.

The Mariners called up Bryan Woo from Triple A to make his MLB debut. He struggled, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits and a walk while lasting just two innings. Matt Festa pitched a scoreless 3rd inning. Tayler Saucedo allowed 4 runs, Chris Flexen allowed 5, and position player Mike Ford pitched, allowing one run.

Woo talked about his rough start, saying that "My stuff was good today. I just made a couple of mistakes. It’s up from here, though. I got a lot of good feedback from the guys, so I’m just going to keep working."

The series wraps up in Arlington on Sunday afternoon. The Rangers send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound, while rookie Bryce Miller gets the start for the Mariners.
