The rookie got his chance, and he made the most of it. Eloy Jimenez homered, Zach Remillard drove in two runs, and the Chicago White Sox rallied past the Seattle Mariners with a 4-3 victory in extra innings on Saturday evening in Seattle.

It was a back and forth affair in Seattle, with the Mariners staked to leads of 2-0 and 3-2 at different points of the game. The White Sox kept fighting back though, and picked up a memorable win, even though it was just their 4th in 10 games.

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said that "Overall, it was the best win of the year for us/ I can't say enough about our guys and the effort they're giving us every single day and the type of games we're playing. Every pitch is leveraged, every at-bat is leveraged. It's crazy the effort these guys are giving us every single day."

The White Sox don't get it done without Remillard. After 7 seasons in the minors, the 10th round pick out of Coastal Carolina was called up and got into the game following an injury. He delivered the game tying hit in the 9th and then the game winning hit in the 11th.

Remillard said of making his debut that "I don't think you can fully put into words where this journey started 27 years ago, playing baseball, and what your dream is, is exactly what happened today. The amount of gratitude I have and how exciting it is to have my family here, it’s a moment I'll never forget for the rest of my life."

JP Crawford gave the Mariners some early life in the first inning, hitting a solo home run to make it 1-0. Ty France then doubled the lead to 2-0 when he scored on a passed ball. Jimenez got the White Sox on the board and made it a 2-1 game in the second inning with a solo home run. Luis Robert Jr tied the game 2-2 in the top of the 5th with an RBI single.

Teoscar Hernandez gave the Mariners the lead back in the bottom of the 5th with an RBI single that scored Julio Rodriguez. It stayed 3-2 Mariners until the 9th, when Remillard hit an RBI single that tied the game, with Elvis Andrus scoring. He did the same thing in the 11th, scoring Andrus on a single to give the White Sox the extra inning win.

Remillard said after the game that "Before I went out there, Joe Kelly’s like, `There’s two options, either you do good or you do bad.' And he just kept it simple. And for some reason that calmed me down. We’re just out here playing the game we love."

Lucas Giolito started for the White Sox, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings. Gregory Santos provided two scoreless innings before Keynan Middleton did the same over 1 2/3 innings. Aaron Bummer got the win with 1 1/3 innings pitched, with Jesse Scholtens getting the save.

Logan Gilbert went 5 1/3 innings for the Mariners, allowing two runs on 6 hits and 3 walks. Matt Brash finished the 6th before Justin Topa and Andres Munoz threw scoreless innings. Paul Sewald pitched the 9th, Gabe Speier the 10th, with Tayler Saucedo getting the loss in the 11th.

Crawford said of the extra innings loss that "There are some games where you just tip your cap. But today was one of those days where we should have won that game. We’re getting runners on, but we’re not getting the clutch hit to bring guys in. If we want to be good, if we want to be better, we’ve got to start dialing in and getting those runs in by any means."

Up next, the series wraps up on Sunday afternoon. Lance Lynn gets the start for the White Sox, while Bryce Miller pitches for the Mariners.
