Late game offense is a lot of fun. Teoscar Hernandez drove in a run, Julio Rodriguez plated 3 runs, and the Seattle Mariners rallied to defeat the San Francisco Giants with a 6-5 victory on Monday night in San Francisco.

Entering the 9th tied 2-2, the Mariners ripped off a 4 run inning to pull away, although the Giants made it interesting again in the bottom half. It's the Mariners 3rd straight win and 5th in their last 10 as they get closer to .500, sitting at 41-42 this season.

Hernandez started the scoring in the 4th inning when he crossed home plate on a wild pitch to make it 1-0 Mariners. In the bottom of the 4th, Blake Sabol hit a two run home run to give the Giants a 2-1 lead. In the 7th, Rodriguez reached base on a fielders choice as Kolten Wong scored to tie the game. In the top of the 9th, Jose Caballero started the rally by scoring on a sac fly, making it 3-2 Mariners.

Rodriguez then opened up the lead later in the inning, hitting a two run double that scored Wong and Ty France to make it a 5-2 score. Hernandez then made it a 6-2 game when he singled in Rodriguez. In the bottom of the 9th, Sabol made it interesting for the Giants with a 3 run home run to cut the deficit to 6-5, which went final.

Seattle manager Scott Servais said that "We're playing much more competitive, much more focused baseball, just up and down the line. I thought the approach was good all night, to be honest with you. We figured it would be a tight game. We were just able to get it done against their closer at the end. It's a great sign."

Bryan Woo got the start for the Mariners, allowing two runs on 3 hits and two walks over 6 innings pitched. Ty Adcock pitched a scoreless 7th before Andres Munoz got the win with a shutout 8th inning. Paul Sewald worked the 9th to close out the game.

Logan Webb allowed two runs on 7 hits and two walks, striking out 11 hitters over 6 2/3 innings in his start. Taylor Rogers finished the 7th before Tyler Rogers worked a scoreless 8th inning. Camilo Doval got the loss for the Giants, allowing 4 runs in the 9th inning.

Giants manager Gabe Kapler said of Doval's rough appearance that "One thing to remember is that Camilo is an All-Star and one of the better closers around baseball, that’s abundantly clear. He also has a little bit of work to do in terms of slowing things down, remembering that he’s controlling the run game. Tonight, it just wasn’t there for him."

The series between the two continues on Tuesday afternoon. The Mariners start Logan Gilbert as they go for their 4th straight win. The Giants look to bounce back as Keaton Winn gets the start.
