The young kids can swing it. Alex Call drove in two runs, CJ Abrams homered, and the Washington Nationals cruised past the San Francisco Giants with a 10-1 victory on Saturday afternoon in Washington.

Following the win, the Nationals now have two straight wins as well as 6 wins in their last 10 games, having secured the series win against the Giants. For Abrams, the night was extra special, as he homered on his bobblehead night at the ballpark.

Nationals first baseman Dominic Smith said of Abrams that "He shows every day why he belongs up here and why the Nationals think so highly of him. It's fun. For you to hit a home run on your bobblehead night, it takes a special person to do that."

Smith got the Nationals on the board in the second inning with an RBI single to make it 1-0. Corey Dickerson added an RBI single before Call plated two with a triple and Abrams hit a two run home run, making it a 6-0 game in the blink of an eye. JD Davis scored LaMonte Wade Jr in the 3rd with a sac fly to get the Giants on the board and make it a 6-1 game.

Lane Thomas kept it going for the Nationals in the 4th inning, making it a 7-1 score with an RBI double. Abrams scored on a Jeimer Candelario RBI single to make the score 8-1. Keibert Ruiz then drove in Thomas with an RBI single to make it 9-1. Candelario then scored on an RBI single from Smith to make it a 10-1 score.

Nationals manager Dave Martinez said of the plate approach that "They’re seeing the ball, staying in the middle of the field, making good, solid contact, using the whole field. They did a great job today. They faced a tough opponent today. We tried to get them to get the ball up, not chase. I thought we did a good job with that."

Josiah Gray started and got the win for the Nationals, allowing one run on 4 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings, striking out 4 hitters. Rico Garcia pitched a scoreless inning in the 8th before Joe La Sorsa closed out the win in the 9th.

Logan Webb lasted just 1 1/3 innings for the Giants, allowing 6 runs on 5 hits and one walk. Sean Manaea pitched the next 5 2/3 innings in relief, getting charged with 4 runs. Luke Jackson then pitched a scoreless inning.

Webb said after the game that "As a group of starters, I don’t think we feel like we’ve done our best job. We might be putting a little pressure on ourselves to keep going and keep attacking guys, and hopefully we can string together a bunch of good starts. Right now, just as a team, we’re struggling. But it happens. It’s the ebbs and flows of the season and you always hope they don’t come in bunches like they are right now."

Up next, the series wraps up on Sunday afternoon. MacKenzie Gore starts for the Nationals as they go for the sweep, while Scott Alexander starts for the Giants as an opener.
