Suddenly, the Brew Crew is mashing the ball. William Contreras homered, Sal Frelick drove in 3 runs, and the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the San Diego Padres with a 10-6 victory on Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee.

The Brewers have been clicking on every cylinder, having now won 8 straight games as they secured a sweep of the Padres. During their winning streak, the Brewers have scored at least 5 runs in all 8 games and have scored at least 6 runs in 7 of the 8 games.

Brewers outfielder Mark Canha said of the offense that "We just have good at bats. We're doing a little bit of everything. We're walking. We're hitting for power. We're just getting on base and also cashing in runs with runners in scoring position. We're just kind of ‘offense-ing.’"

Ha-Seong Kim scored in the first inning to make it 1-0 Padres on a fielder's choice. Contreras tied it 1-1 in the bottom of the first with a towering solo home run. Gary Sanchez hit a two run home run and Matthew Batten hit a solo home run in the 3rd to make it a 4-1 game. Christian Yelich then scored on a bases loaded walk to make it 4-2. Rowdy Tellez tied it 4-4 in the 6th with a two run double.

Later in the 6th, the Brewers opened up a 9-4 lead with a bases loaded walk from Carlos Santana, a two run double by Frelick, and a two run single by Canha. In the 7th, Trent Grisham scored on a wild pitch and Batten scored on a bases loaded walk for the Padres to make it 9-6. Contreras then hit an RBI double in the bottom of the 7th to make it a 10-6 game.

Brewers pitcher Wade Miley said after the game that "We’re at the stage right now where every series is a big series. At the same time, you can’t go in there putting too much on it. I think we learned that a little bit when we went to L.A. and maybe overcooked it a little bit. We went in there with a little too much ‘try.’ I don’t know if that’s the right word, but we put too much pressure on ourselves."

Adrian Houser got the start for the Brewers, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits and a walk in just two innings. Bryse Wilson pitched 4 scoreless innings before Abner Uribe allowed two runs without getting an out. Hoby Milner had a scoreless inning, while Trevor Megill added two shutout innings to seal the win.

Michael Wacha pitched 5 1/3 innings for the Padres, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits and 5 walks. Steven Wilson only got one out while giving up 4 runs. Nick Martinez allowed two runs in 1 1/3 innings before Luis Garcia had a scoreless inning in the 8th.

Padres manager Bob Melvin said of the losses piling up that "They keep adding up. It might be the worst at this point. We felt good about where we were. It’s the middle innings, again, where we get a starter on the ropes. We just didn't do much in the middle innings to put a ton of pressure on. There were a lot of things that are kind of a microcosm of what's been going on this year. The runners in scoring position, not being able to hold a lead. Just a lot of things that added up today that we've seen a little bit before."

Both teams play road games on Monday to start new series. The Brewers take on the division rival Cubs, with Miley set to start the opening game. The Padres give the start to Blake Snell against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.
