The rally snakes did their thing again. Ketel Marte drove in two runs, Tommy Pham had the go ahead RBI, and the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Colorado Rockies with a 8-5 victory on Tuesday night in Denver.

Entering the 9th inning trailing 5-3, the D-Backs scored 5 runs in the top of the 9th to take an 8-5 lead that they would hold on to for the win. It's just their 3rd win in 10 games, so every win is important for the D-Backs, right in the thick of the NL Wild Card race.

D-Backs manager Torey Lovullo said that "The way we came back, the things we did the way we executed all the way until our final out in that ninth inning was great to see. We’re obviously battling some frustration and a little bit of anger but they were able to slow down and push that energy in the right direction and executed at the most critical time."

Christian Walker started the scoring in the 3rd inning for the D-Backs, giving them a 2-0 lead with a two run home run. A Charlie Blackmon ground out in the 3rd and a Ryan McMahon ground out in the 6th made it a 2-2 game. Geraldo Perdomo scored in the 7th to make it 3-2 D-Backs. Michael Toglia tied it in the bottom of the 7th with an RBI double.

Later in the 7th, Brenton Doyle hit a two run home run to put the Rockies ahead 5-3. In the top of the 9th, Marte singled to right field, scoring two runners to tie the game 5-5. Marte then scored on a double from Pham to make it a 6-5 game. Lourdes Gurriel Jr and Jace Peterson each added RBI singles to make it 8-5 in favor of the D-Backs.

Colorado pitcher Ty Blach said of Walker's 3rd inning homer that "He’s swinging the bat really well this year. You look at his average compared to years past, he’s hitting for a higher average with the same amount of power. He’s a good player and he’s got a good approach right now."

Joe Mantiply pitched a scoreless first inning as an opener. Bryce Jarvis made his MLB debut and allowed one run in 3 innings out of the bullpen. Tyler Gilbert allowed a run in 1 2/3 innings before Luis Frias allowed 3 runs in 1 1/3 innings. Kevin Ginkel worked the 8th and Paul Sewald got the save in the 9th, his 24th of the season.

Blach started for the Rockies, allowing two runs on 6 hits and two walks in 5 innings. Jake Bird pitched a scoreless 6th before Brent Suter allowed a run in the 7th. Drew Koch pitched the 8th before Justin Lawrence allowed 5 runs in the 9th, forcing Tyler Kinley to also make an appearance.

Up next, the series wraps up on Wednesday afternoon. Both teams go for the series win, with Slade Cecconi starting for the D-Backs and Austin Gomber taking the mound for the Rockies.
