The Fightins have chosen to mash. Bryce Harper homered, Trea Turner drove in 3 runs, and the Philadelphia Phillies rolled past the Los Angeles Angels with a 12-7 victory on Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

The Phillies hit 5 home runs in this game to reach 57 on the month, tied for the 9th most home runs in a calendar month in baseball. One more home run will move them into a tie for 5th. The Phillies have also now rattled off 5 wins in a row and 8 in 10 games as they improve to 74-58 on the season.

Harper said of the Phillies lineup that "If we have the lineup that we do and a team ends up walking me or anybody in our lineup, I think those guys behind me and in front of me are going to keep swinging the bat. Kind of pick your poison throughout the whole team."

Luis Rengifo gave the Angels a 1-0 lead with a second inning solo home run. Harper promptly tied it in the bottom of the second with a solo shot of his own. Randal Grichuk made it 2-1 Angels in the top of the 3rd by scoring on an error. That was when Kyle Schwarber tied it once again for the Phillies, making it 2-2 with a solo home run.

Rengifo homered for a second time in the 4th, giving the Angels a 3-2 lead. Shohei Ohtani scored Grichuk in the 5th with an RBI single to make it 4-2. Alec Bohm then put the Phillies ahead 5-4 with a 3 run home run to left center field. JT Realmuto scored on a sac bunt before Turner hit a two run triple to give the Phillies an 8-4 lead.

Grichuk continued his good day with a solo home run in the 7th to cut the deficit to 8-5. Realmuto hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 7th and Bryson Stott hit a two run home run to make it 11-5 Phillies. Turner then hit a solo home run to make it 12-5 in the 8th. In the 9th, Nolan Schanuel hit an RBI single and Ohtani an RBI double to make it a 12-7 final.

Michael Lorenzen started for the Phillies, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits and two walks in 6 innings to get the win. Jose Alvarado allowed a run in the 7th before Seranthony Dominguez pitched a scoreless 8th. Andrew Bellatti closed out the win despite allowing a pair of runs in the 9th inning.

Lorenzen said of his start that "I felt really good, other than the leadoff hitters. When you’re trying to fill up the zone, those can be one-pitch outs, and you’re going into the eighth inning with 75 pitches, 85 pitches. Or sometimes they do damage on them. If you’re going to fill up the zone like that, you live and die by it. Sometimes it gets you, sometimes it works out."

Tyler Anderson was the starter for the Angels, charged with 6 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings. Jose Soriano allowed two runs while getting just two outs, leaving Jaime Barria to finish the next 2 1/3 innings. Barria allowed 4 runs on 4 hits.

The series concludes on Wednesday afternoon. Cristopher Sanchez starts for the Phillies as they go for the sweep. The Angels look to salvage a game with Reid Detmers taking the mound.
