The Brew crew is fighting for a division title. Carlos Santana drove in two runs, Willy Adames homered, and the Milwaukee Brewers rolled past the New York Yankees with an 8-2 victory on Friday night in the Bronx.

With the win, the Brewers got their 5th win in 10 games, improving to 78-62 on the season. They extended their lead on the NL Central to 3 games. In the batter's box, Santana and Adames combined to drive in 5 of the 8 runs scored by the Brewers.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said after the game that "We did a nice job of just creating opportunities tonight, and finally we broke through. I thought William's at bat, that’s a tough at-bat for a right-hander, to hang in there and get a pitch to put in play. That’s, to me, the at-bat of the game."

Jasson Dominguez started the scoring in the 3rd inning for the Yankees, hitting a two run home run to make it a 2-0 game. That lead didn't last long, with Adames hitting a game tying two run home run in the 4th inning to make it 2-2. It stayed that way until the 7th inning, when William Contreras put the Brewers ahead 3-2 with an RBI single that scored Andruw Monasterio.

Later in the 7th, Contreras scored on an RBI single from Santana, extending the lead to 4-2. Adames then doubled in Santana to make it a 5-2 Brewers lead. Come the 8th inning, Monasterio delivered a two run double, making it 7-2 Brewers. Santana then added the exclamation point with an RBI single that scored Monasterio.

Colin Rea got the start for the Brewers, allowing a pair of runs on 3 hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings. Abner Uribe came on and pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to get his first big league win. Trevor Megill, Bryse Wilson, and Thyago Vieira pitched a scoreless inning each to seal the win.

Uribe said of his success that "The confidence had been given to me by them; they’ve thrown me in all those different situations. I try to take as much advantage as I can, throw strikes, attack the hitters and get the outs. That way they can continue to give me those opportunities."

Luis Severino allowed two runs in 4 innings for the Yankees before leaving the game injured. Jhony Brito pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run to get charged with the loss. Jonathan Loaisiga allowed two runs, Greg Weissert allowed 3, and Tommy Kahnle pitched a scoreless 9th inning.

The series continues on Saturday afternoon. The Brewers go for the series win as Wade Miley gets the start, while the Yankees give the start to Michael King.
