Philadelphia wins series 3-1
Red October is going to another series. Trea Turner homered, Nick Castellanos homered twice, and the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Atlanta Braves with a 3-1 victory on Thursday night in Philadelphia.

The Phillies won both of the home games in the series, knocking out the Braves in 4 games for the second straight year. After both Bryce Harper and Castellanos homered twice in game 3, it was solely Castellanos in game 4, hitting two home runs as they advanced to the NLCS. Turner also had a 4 hit game, headlined by a home run.

Castellanos said after the game that "We know how important momentum is in these postseason games. So anytime that you feel it may be swinging in the other direction, we do a very good job of locking it in to get the momentum back in our favor. That's important to our team."

Austin Riley gave the Braves a 1-0 lead, hitting a solo home run in the top of the 4th. Castellanos quickly tied the game in the bottom of the 4th with a solo shot of his own. In the 5th, Turner hit a solo home run to put the Phillies ahead 2-1. Castellanos then hit another home run, this being another solo shot in the 6th to make it 3-1 Phillies.

Harper said of the two homer game by Castellanos that "We were 16, 17, 18 years old playing for Team USA. He did the same stuff, in the biggest tournaments, on the biggest stages. That’s Nick Castellanos. And that’s why he’s here."

Ranger Suarez allowed a run in 5 innings in his start for the Phillies. Seranthony Dominguez worked 2/3 of an inning before Jose Alvarado and Craig Kimbrel worked an inning each. Gregory Soto got the last out of the 8th before Matt Strahm got the save in the 9th to secure the series win.

Spencer Strider started for the Braves, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks in 5 2/3 innings. AJ Minter and Pierce Johnson each threw a scoreless inning in relief before Raisel Iglesias got the last out of the 8th inning.

Atlanta first baseman Matt Olson said of losing to the Phillies again that "They played better than us last year and they played better than us this year. It sucks to have the success during the season and come in and lose the series."

The Phillies advance to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLCS, with game one being on Monday in Philadelphia. The Braves enter the offseason early again, this time after boasting baseball's best record during the regular season.
