Arizona wins series 4-3
The snakes have made it to the fall classic. Corbin Carroll drove in two runs, the bullpen delivered again, and the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Philadelphia Phillies with a 4-2 victory on Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

By winning two straight games, the D-Backs rallied to win the NL Pennant, reaching the World Series for the first time since 2001, which was their first trip to the World Series. After knocking off the Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers, the D-Backs miracle run is continuing.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said after the game that "I can’t wrap my arms around it. And I know that the Rangers are in a very similar boat. It just goes to show you perseverance, persistence, hard work, that anything’s possible. We’re a small-market organization, and we’ve done it from within. That makes it very sweet."

Christian Walker gave the D-Backs the lead right away, reaching on a fielder's choice as Corbin Carroll scored to make it 1-0. In the second inning, the Phillies tied the game up as Alec Bohm hit a solo home run, making it a 1-1 game. Bohm then scored in the 4th inning as Bryson Stott gave the Phillies a 2-1 lead with an RBI double.

In the 5th inning, Carroll hit an RBI single to center field, tying the game 2-2 as Emmanuel Rivera scored from second base. Carroll then scored from second on an RBI single from Gabriel Moreno, giving the D-Backs a 3-2 lead. In the 7th, Geraldo Perdomo scored on a sac fly from Carroll, making it a 4-2 game.

D-Backs infielder Evan Longoria said after the game that "The crowd was a huge factor. When we came back for game 6, we jumped out to a lead and kind of got the crowd out of it a little bit. I think we realized, man, if we can do that, if we can silence them, it will be big for us."

Brandon Pfaadt allowed two runs in 4 innings in his start for the D-Backs. Joe Mantiply pitched 2/3 of an inning before Ryan Thompson handled 1 1/3 innings. Andrew Saalfrank got one out before Kevin Ginkel delivered 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Paul Sewald got the save in the 9th inning.

Ranger Suarez started for the Phillies, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits in 4 2/3 innings. Jeff Hoffman pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings before Jose Alvarado allowed a run in 1/3 of an inning. Zack Wheeler threw 1 2/3 innings before Matt Strahm recorded the final two outs.

Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber said of being eliminated that "It's not the way that we pictured this thing ending, but it's a lot of things to look back on. I'm sure this isn't going to sit right with a lot of guys. And we're going to have to make sure that we do everything in our power in this offseason to make sure that we come out, and we know it's going to be a challenging, tough year going into next year. But try to envision ourselves getting to this spot and making sure that doesn’t happen."

The D-Backs travel to Texas to face the Texas Rangers in the World Series, with game one set for Friday night. The Phillies enter the offseason unable to get back to the World Series after coming up short in 6 games last year.
