Texas leads series 1-0
Welcome to the World Series everyone. Corey Seager hit the game tying homer, Adolis Garcia walked it off, and the Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 5-3 extra innings victory on Friday night in Arlington.

The World Series this year is a matchup of 5 and 6 seeds, teams that weren't widely picked to make it here. They played a classic, with both teams coming back from multi run deficits. It was Texas who came out on top thanks to their rally being the one at the end of the game.

D-Backs 3rd baseman Evan Longoria said "That’s just the nature of the postseason. I feel like if we continue to play the type of game that we played today, we’re going to put ourselves in plenty of good spots to win the Series."

Evan Carter gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead in the first inning, hitting an RBI double that scored Seager. Garcia was the next batter, hitting an RBI single to left field, making it 2-0 as Carter came around to score. In the 3rd inning, Corbin Carroll tied the game with a two run triple before scoring on a fielder's choice to give the D-Backs a 3-2 lead.

Texas tied the game in the bottom of the 3rd when Seager scored on a bases loaded walk. Tommy Pham gave the D-Backs a 4-3 lead in the 4th with a solo home run before Ketel Marte made it 5-3 in the 5th with an RBI double. Then came the 9th, when Seager tied the game with one swing of the bat, making it 5-5 and forcing extra innings.

Carter said of Seager's heroics that "Honestly, right now, it's otherworldly. You've got people like him, Doli, everyone's coming through in big moments like that. That's what you need, people around you that are going to be veterans that are going to come through in those moments like that. And it's just been, gosh, you have all the confidence in the world."

The 10th inning was scoreless and so was the top of the 11th. In the bottom of the inning, Garcia came up and delivered the walk off solo home run, hitting it to right field to give the Rangers a dramatic 6-5 victory in 11 innings.

Nathan Eovaldi was the starter for the Rangers, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits in 4 2/3 innings. The bullpen pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings after he left. Dane Dunning, Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Will Smith, and Jose Leclerc stymied the D-Backs.

Zac Gallen allowed 3 runs in 5 innings in his start for the D-Backs. Ryan Thompson, Joe Mantiply, and Kevin Ginkel each threw a scoreless inning before Paul Sewald blew the save chance in the 9th inning. Kyle Nelson pitched 1 1/3 innings before Miguel Castro got the loss in the 11th.

D-Backs manager Torey Lovullo said after the game that "It’s frustrating. This is how the game goes sometimes. And we’ve got to find a way to be resilient and adaptable and come out with a clean mind and do our best. I have every reason to believe we will. We’ve done it a lot this year."

Game two of the series is on Saturday night. The Rangers go for the 2-0 series lead with Jordan Montgomery getting the start. The D-Backs try to tie the series 1-1 with Merrill Kelly taking the mound.
