Some pop is heading to the desert. OF Joc Pederson and the Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to a one year, $12.5 million contract, according to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. The team has confirmed the addition.

Pederson is the latest addition for the reigning NL champs as they build off an impressive 2023. His contract has a $14 million mutual option for a second year with a $3 million buyout on top of a $9.5 million salary for 2024. With the D-Backs still in search of a bat to add some power, they've found that in Pederson.

Throughout his career, Pederson has been much better against righty pitching than lefties. He has a .241 average and .786 OPS to go with 14 home runs against righties. Facing lefties, he has a .186 average, .606 OPS, and just one home run.

Last season, Pederson played his second season with the San Francisco Giants. He ended the year with a .235/.348/.416 slash line with a 111 OPS+, blasting 14 doubles and 15 home runs with 51 RBI's in 121 games for the Giants, drawing 57 walks as well.

Pederson has played for the Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, and Atlanta Braves over 10 years in the majors. He has a .237/.336/.464 slash line with a 116 OPS+ to his name, hitting 186 home runs and 164 doubles with 485 RBI's in 1,140 games. He has a .256/.332/.482 slash line with 8 doubles, 12 home runs, and 29 RBI's in 79 playoff games.

Recently, Pederson has been boosting his playoff pedigree. He hit .382 with two home runs and 8 RBI's in the Dodgers run to a World Series title in 2020, then added 3 more home runs as he helped the Braves win the World Series in 2021.

The D-Backs have Alek Thomas, Corbin Carroll, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr set as starters in the outfield, with Pederson likely serving as a 4th outfielder while getting plenty of time at DH. Arizona has brought in Eugenio Suarez and Eduardo Rodriguez in addition to re-signing Gurriel Jr.
