These two leaders aren't leaving soon. Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash and president of baseball operations Erik Neander were each given multi year extensions by the team, according to an announcement on Thursday.

While the terms of the extensions haven't been revealed, both Cash and Neander's new contracts will carry into the team's move to a new stadium in 2028. Cash took over as manager in 2015 after Joe Maddon was let go, while Neander started with the franchise in 2007 before being promoted to president of baseball operations in 2021.

In a statement, Rays owner Stuart Sternberg said that "I believe there are none better in baseball. What we’ve accomplished together has been remarkable, and the best is yet to come."

Cash had one year and a team option left on his current contract with the Rays. Since taking over the team, the Rays have had a .545 winning percentage over the 9 years Cash has managed, making the playoffs 5 times in a row, appearing in the World Series in 2020. Cash has also won Manager of the Year twice and is currently the longest tenured manager in the majors.

Neander still had a few years left on a 5 year contract he signed when he was promoted to president of baseball operations in 2021. He became the GM of the franchise in 2016 under Chaim Bloom. In 2019, Neander was named MLB's executive of the year.

In September, Neander said "A win here is more satisfying, to me personally, and I think a lot of us, than a win anywhere else. And that matters. The satisfaction derived from a win is not the same everywhere. There's a lot of fulfillment that comes with having success here and the challenges that it brings as well, and the creative freedom, frankly."
