A little snow isn't a problem in Denver. Jonatan Clase drove in two runs, Cal Raleigh homered, and the Seattle Mariners defeated the Colorado Rockies with a 7-0 shutout victory Saturday in Denver.

Playing in a game headlined by the rain and snow falling on the field, the Mariners won to extend their winning streak to 4 games, going 6-4 in their last 10 games. Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez, and Clase had multiple RBI's as the Mariners offense delivered early and often.

Raleigh said of Seattle's plate approach that "It’s kind of what we want to do to the opposing starter, not what he’s trying to do to us. I think it all stems from that and what you’re looking for, and not chasing in all four quadrants of the zone; we’re only chasing in the one or the two, and kind of making him come to you."

In the second inning, Raleigh got the scoring started for the Mariners with a solo home run to left field. One inning later, Raleigh made it a 2-0 game with an RBI single that scored Rodriguez. In the 4th inning, Rodriguez extended the Mariners lead to 3-0 with an RBI single to center field that brought home Josh Rojas.

Seattle kept going in the 5th inning. Playing in his 4th major league game, Clase extended the Mariners lead to 5-0, hitting a single to right field that scored Raleigh and Ty France. Later in the inning, Rodriguez brought home his second run of the day, hitting an RBI single to center field that once again scored Rojas.

Getting the start for the Mariners was Luis Castillo, who delivered a gem. Castillo struck out 9 hitters and allowed just two hits and a walk in 7 shutout innings. Tyson Miller and Brett de Geus each threw a scoreless inning in relief to close out the win.

Seattle manager Scott Servais said of Castillo's start that "It was unbelievable for Luis Castillo to go out there in that kind of weather and perform like that. I didn’t know what we were going to get out there, but I knew the weather was going to be nasty. But from the get-go, he was very determined, he was locked in."

Dakota Hudson was the starting pitcher for the Rockies, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits and 5 walks in 4 innings pitched. Victor Vodnik pitched the 5th inning and allowed 3 runs. Tyler Kinley worked a scoreless inning after that and Anthony Molina worked 3 scoreless innings to close out the game.

After a previous game in the series was postponed, the teams will play a Sunday doubleheader. George Kirby starts for the Mariners opposed by Colorado's Cal Quantrill in the first game. The second game features Emerson Hancock for the Mariners against Peter Lambert for the Rockies.
