Baseball's super team is catching fire. Miguel Rojas and Shohei Ohtani homered as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants with a 5-4 victory on Wednesday night in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers are off to an unsurprising hot start to the season, sitting at 7-2 through 9 games after completing the sweep of the Giants. The offense in particular has been performing, scoring at least 5 runs in all 9 games.

Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts said of the offense that "Even right now with some guys that are kind of scuffling and trying to find their way with their swing, we’re still putting up five runs a game. I think it’s big for our starting pitching and it’s big just for morale knowing that we can score early, we can score late, and we’ve seen some good arms and we’re still finding ways to put up some crooked numbers, which is huge."

Max Muncy scored on a fielder's choice in the second inning to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead. Patrick Bailey tied the game in the 3rd for the Giants with a solo home run, his first of the season. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Dodgers took a 3-1 lead behind an RBI double from Will Smith and an RBI single from Teoscar Hernandez.

Rojas blasted a solo home run in the 4th inning to pad the Dodgers lead, making it 4-1. Michael Conforto delivered for the Giants in the 6th, hitting a two run single to cut the deficit to 4-3. In the 7th inning, Ohtani hit a solo home run to make it 5-3. Jorge Soler answered back with a solo shot of his own, but the Dodgers pitching locked down the win from there.

Asked about Ohtani's homer, Rojas said "That guy works extremely hard to be a professional and deal with everything every single day. We ask a lot of Shohei, and for us to see him get some success, it’s always important and it’s always nice for us to see him feel comfortable in the clubhouse around the new guys. Now he can just relax and play baseball."

Tyler Glasnow toed the rubber for the Dodgers, allowing 3 runs in 6 innings as he picked up the win. Joe Kelly pitched a scoreless 7th inning before Daniel Hudson allowed a run in the 8th. Dinelson Lamet worked a clean 9th to pick up the save, his first.

It was Kyle Harrison who started for the Giants, getting tagged for 4 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings. Erik Miller worked a scoreless 6th before Taylor Rogers allowed the home run to Ohtani in the 7th. Tyler Rogers pitched a shutout 8th inning.

Harrison said after the game that "I was just not getting ahead, not attacking guys as much as I should and falling behind in counts. Kind of a mixture of everything. Definitely not good in my eyes and not good in our team’s eyes. The win’s all that matters. To get swept is not a great feeling. We’re going to be back to the drawing board, and we’re going to be ready for these guys the next time we come out. It just gives us that much more motivation."

Both teams have Thursday off before starting their weekend series on Friday. Bobby Miller is lined up to start for the Dodgers against the Chicago Cubs while Jordan Hicks is the Giants starter against the San Diego Padres.
