Baseball can be weird sometimes. Kevin Pillar drove in two runs, Dominic Fletcher added two more RBI's, and the Chicago White Sox defeated the Cleveland Guardians with a 7-5 victory Tuesday in Cleveland.

The White Sox snapped a 5 game losing streak as they won the middle game of the series. It's also their first road win of the season as they sit at just 2-9 through 11 games. The White Sox gained early momentum and held on through the end.

Lenyn Sosa gave the White Sox a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI double that scored Robbie Grossman. Andrew Vaughn followed that up with an RBI single, scoring Yoan Moncada to double the lead to 2-0. Sosa scored on an RBI single from Korey Lee to make it 3-0 before Pillar hit a two run double to make it 5-0 White Sox.

Josh Naylor got the Guardians on the board in the bottom of the first, hitting a two run home run to right field. Tyler Freeman's RBI single in the 3rd inning cut the deficit to 5-3. Steven Kwan and Jose Ramirez each hit RBI singles in the 4th inning to tie the game 5-5. It stayed that way until the 8th when Fletcher put the White Sox ahead for good with a two run double to right center field.

Fletcher said of the win that "It's been a tough stretch. We’ve been close; It felt good to get one and try to get something going here. I was looking for something over the middle and trying to hit something hard on a line."

Michael Soroka got the start for the White Sox, allowing 4 runs in 3 2/3 innings. Tim Hill allowed a run as he finished the 4th before Jordan Leasure pitched two scoreless innings. Steven Wilson got the win with a shutout 7th before Michael Kopech got the two inning save, his second save of the season.

Kopech said of becoming the closer that "My velo is back to where I wanted it to be for a long time. Striking guys out is always fun. I like starting, but to be honest with you I like competitive baseball and being in a really competitive position and to close the door, there’s not a bigger moment in a game for a pitcher."

Logan Allen was charged with 5 runs on 7 hits in 4 innings pitched for the Guardians. After he departed, Eli Morgan, Nick Sandlin, Hunter Gaddis, Scott Barlow, and Peter Strzelecki all pitched one inning each. Barlow got tagged with the loss as he allowed two runs in the 8th inning.

The series concludes Wednesday night as both teams try to go for the series win with the series tied at a game apiece. Erick Fedde takes the mound for the White Sox, opposed by Cleveland's Tanner Bibee.
