The beat keeps going in Chavez Ravine. Shohei Ohtani homered, James Outman added one of his own, and the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Miami Marlins with a 6-3 victory Monday night in Los Angeles.

Behind the production of Ohtani and Outman, the Dodgers got the series started with a win as they won their 4th game in a row. Ohtani homered in his 3rd straight game and he's hit 4 in that span, the 4th time he's hit 4 home runs in 3 games.

Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts said of Ohtani that "All the balls that he’s driving are in his nitro zone. If they don’t throw it there, he takes his base. And if they do, he’s ready to fire. So, he’s getting hits, he’s driving in runs, and now he’s slugging. It's a result of controlling the strike zone."

Bryan De La Cruz gave the Marlins an early lead in this one. He scored Jazz Chisholm Jr with an RBI single to make it 1-0 Marlins in the top of the first. De La Cruz scored himself on an RBI single from Jesus Sanchez, doubling the lead to 2-0. In the bottom of the first, Ohtani got all of a two run home run to make it 2-2.

Right after Ohtani was Freddie Freeman, who went back to back by hitting a solo home run to give the Dodgers a 3-2 lead. In the top of the second, Nick Gordon tied the game for the Marlins with a solo home run of his own, making it 3-3. Outman hit a two run home run in the bottom of the second to make it 5-3. Teoscar Hernandez made it 6-3 in the 3rd with a solo home run.

Walker Buehler got the start for the Dodgers, his first in almost two years due to injury. Buehler allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 4 innings pitched. Ryan Yarbrough handled 3 scoreless innings in relief, with Blake Treinen pitching a scoreless 8th and Alex Vesia getting the save in the 9th.

Los Angeles catcher Will Smith said of Buehler's return that "It was great to see him back on the mound, pitching for us in the big leagues. It took him a couple innings to settle in, then two zeros in the third and fourth. I’m just happy he’s back and looking forward to the next one."

Roddery Munoz allowed 6 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks in 4 2/3 innings. Eli Villalobos pitched 1 1/3 innings after Munoz departed before Declan Cronin and Anthony Maldonado pitched scoreless innings of their own.

Munoz said of his shaky start that "There's good days, there's bad days. Most important is that you go out there, you compete, and you do the best for your teammates and for your team. So there's some struggle times, but you've got to continue to hold your head up high and continue battling on the field."

Game two of the series is set for Tuesday night. The Dodgers will look to win their 5th straight and secure a series win with Yoshinobu Yamamoto taking the mound. Edward Cabrera goes for the Marlins as they look to even the series ahead of the finale.
