How bout these Royals? Michael Massey drove in a pair of runs, Bobby Witt Jr homered, and the Kansas City Royals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers with a 6-4 victory Wednesday afternoon in Kansas City.

The Royals picked up the series win over the NL Central leading Brewers with the finale victory. The Royals sit in second place in the AL Central themselves with a 22-16 record after a busy offseason, with Massey and Witt Jr leading the way in this win at the plate.

Witt Jr said of beating the first place Brewers that "We have to believe we are one of those teams, too. That’s what we are supposed to do against these teams. Go up there and compete, and be the best team we can possibly be."

William Contreras gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with an RBI double. The Royals took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first on run scoring sac flies from Massey and Vinnie Pasquantino. Massey drove in another run with a sac fly in the 6th to make it 3-1. Gary Sanchez cut the deficit to 3-2 for the Brewers with a 7th inning solo home run.

In the 8th inning, Witt Jr doubled the lead to 4-2, hitting a solo home run to left field. Adam Frazier made it a 5-2 lead for the Royals with a single that scored Dairon Blanco. Freddy Fermin drove in Hunter Renfroe with an RBI single to make it 6-2. Contreras and Brice Turang drove in runs in the 9th for the Brewers to make it 6-4.

Brady Singer got the start for the Royals, the 100th in his major league career. Singer allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings as he got the win. Will Smith, Nick Anderson, Angel Zerpa, Chris Stratton, Tyler Duffey, and James McArthur all came out of the bullpen to seal the win.

Witt Jr said of Singer's strong start that "He’s just doing Brady Singer things. He’s going up there and competing. He’s a dog up there. It’s so much fun to play defense behind him."

Joe Ross took the mound for the Brewers, getting the loss as he was charged with 3 runs on 3 hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 5 innings pitched. Bryan Hudson pitched two shutout innings before Joel Payamps allowed 3 runs while getting just one out. Jimmy Herget finished off the 8th inning without a run.

Both teams start their next series on Thursday. Michael Wacha takes the mound for the Royals as they take on the Los Angeles Angels while Tobias Myers is expected to start for the Brewers against the St. Louis Cardinals.
