Welcome back to the crosstown rivalry. Christopher Morel homered, Ian Happ drove in the game winning run, and the Chicago Cubs rallied to defeat the Chicago White Sox with a 7-6 victory Tuesday night at Wrigley Field.

Trailing 5-0 after 4 innings, the Cubs rallied after a rain delay to roar back and topple their rivals on the south side of Chicago, sitting at 30-31 after just their 3rd win in 10 games. It gives the White Sox their 12th straight loss as well.

Paul DeJong gave the White Sox a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning as Andrew Vaughn scored on a forceout off his bat, with Morel making an error for the Cubs. That set up a rally for the White Sox, as Korey Lee hit a two run double and Lenyn Sosa delivered a two run homer to make it 5-0. Dansby Swanson got the Cubs on the board in the 5th, making it 5-1.

Morel came up big in the 6th for the Cubs, making it a 5-3 game with a two run home run to center field. Patrick Wisdom added a two run shot of his own later in the inning, tying the game 5-5. Luis Robert put the White Sox ahead 6-5 in the 7th with a solo homer. Happ put the Cubs back in front for good in the 8th, making it 7-6 with a two run double.

The home run was sweet redemption for Morel, who's 4th inning error opened the door for the 5 run inning by the White Sox.

Happ said of Morel that "Those things happen. A couple guys being able to talk to Morel and get him back to a place where, 'Hey, man, you're a big part of this team. You're going to have big at-bats later in the game,’ was big. And he's done a great job of being able to turn the page throughout his career and come up with clutch hits."

Shota Imanaga allowed 5 runs on 7 hits in 4 1/3 innings in his start for the Cubs. Tyson Miller worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings before Hayden Wesneski, Luke Little, and Hector Neris nailed down the win, with Little earning the win and Neris the save, his 8th of the season.

As injuries plagued the White Sox outfield, Chris Flexen allowed one run in 5 innings pitched in his start. Justin Anderson and Tanner Banks were each responsible for two runs in one inning combined, with John Brebbia working a scoreless inning before Jordan Leasure allowed two runs in the 8th.

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said after the game that "It seems like it’s been happening all year. We’ve just got to keep going. No excuses. I know we’re not playing great baseball, our record is not where we want it to be, but the one thing I know for sure is these guys have never had an excuse for not winning games, and I will never have one either."

The two game set wraps up Wednesday night. Jameson Taillon gets the start for the Cubs as they go for the series sweep, while the White Sox try to split the two gamer with Erick Fedde taking the mound.
