The Baltimore Orioles have acquired LHP Trevor Rogers from the Miami Marlins in exchange for UTIL Connor Norby and OF Kyle Stowers, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

With John Means out for the season and Cole Irvin out of the picture, the Orioles needed another lefty starter, and they have that in Rogers. Despite having a 5.68 ERA in his first 12 starts, he's been pitching to the tune of a 3.17 ERA in his last 9, allowing two or fewer earned runs in 8 of those.

Baltimore GM Mike Elias said of Rogers "We think that he’s going to be a really good fit toward the middle-back part of this rotation. Fits in well with the group. He’s got a real live, sneaky arm, a lot of extension. He gets a lot of ground balls, and I think that from the left side is something we haven’t had in this rotation for a while."

Rogers is in the middle of his 5th season in the majors, all having come with the Marlins. He has a 4.53 ERA, 4.42 FIP, and 1.53 WHIP to his name this year, averaging 7.3 strikeouts per 9 innings and 3.9 walks per 9, throwing 105 1/3 innings across 21 starts.

In return, the Marlins get Norby, the 5th ranked prospect in the Orioles system, according to MLB Pipeline. They also get Stowers, who no longer has prospect eligibility due to major league service time. Norby offers the Marlins versatility all over the infield as well as the corner outfield.

Norby made his highly anticipated MLB debut this season for the Orioles. He has 6 hits, two of them being home runs, to go with 3 RBI's in 32 plate appearances over 9 games in the majors. With Triple A Norfolk, he has a .297/.389/.519 slash line with 21 doubles, 16 home runs, 13 stolen bases, and 57 RBI's in 80 games.

Stowers has been up and down from the majors and minors in his short big league career. Across parts of 3 seasons in the majors, he has a .229/.274/.369 slash line with an 83 OPS+, hitting 8 doubles and 4 home runs with 20 RBI's in 67 games.

Rogers will join an Orioles rotation that includes Corbin Burnes, Grayson Rodriguez, Dean Kremer, and recent trade pickup Zach Eflin. With the Marlins, Stowers has joined the big league roster while Norby will report to Triple A Jacksonville.
