Maybe this is what they needed. Willy Adames homered twice, William Contreras drove in 4 runs, and the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Atlanta Braves with a 10-0 victory Tuesday night in Atlanta.

The win marks just the 4th win in 10 games for the Brewers, who still hold the NL Central lead with a 63-49 record. The Brewers offense erupted for 16 hits and 10 runs on Braves pitching, handing Atlanta their 3rd straight loss behind Willy power, as Contreras and Adames combined for 7 hits and 8 RBI's.

Contreras started the scoring in the first inning with a triple to right field that scored Brice Turang to make it 1-0 Brewers. Adames followed that up with a two run home run to center, tripling the lead to 3-0. Joey Ortiz extended the lead in the second inning, hitting a single to left field that brought in Rhys Hoskins to make it a 4-0 game.

In the 3rd inning, Adames hit his second two run shot of the game, extending the Brewers lead to 6-0. In the 4th, Turang delivered a single to right field to score Sal Frelick and make it a 7-0 game. In the 6th, a two run double by Contreras made it a 9-0 advantage. Contreras made it 10-0 in the 8th with another RBI double.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said of Adames' game "It’s been incredible to see how he’s done it. One day he looks tired, and then the next day is a team day off, and then bang, he hits three balls right on the screws and beats out another hit and plays impeccable defense. That’s what a good player does."

Colin Rea delivered 7 shutout innings in his start for the Brewers, throwing his 3rd straight shutout start on the road, spanning 19 straight shutout innings away from home. The Brewers improved to 14-5 in games he starts this season. Joe Ross pitched the final two innings to seal the win.

Bryce Elder was the starting pitcher for the Braves, getting hit to the tune of 7 runs on 8 hits and two walks in 3 2/3 innings, getting optioned to Triple A Gwinnett after the game. Jesse Chavez allowed two runs in two innings before Aaron Bummer added 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Joe Jimenez allowed one run and outfielder Luke Williams pitched a scoreless 9th.

Elder said after the game "When you have nights like this, it sucks. But I pitched well last week and I got sent back down. I pitched bad this week and got sent back down."

Game two of the series is set for Wednesday night. Freddy Peralta starts for the Brewers as they go for the series win, while Chris Sale goes for the Braves as they try to even the series ahead of Thursday's finale.
