The big guns are coming back. Shohei Ohtani homered, Mookie Betts drove in 3 runs, and the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Milwaukee Brewers with a 5-2 victory Monday night in Milwaukee.

With the win, the Dodgers ran their winning streak to 4 games and have 7 wins in 10 games, sitting at 70-49, the first NL team to reach 70 wins. The big story for the Dodgers was the return of Betts, who had been out since June 17 when he was placed on the IL with a broken left hand.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of adding Betts "Being able to pencil his name in the lineup, we certainly got a lot better. We’re kind of getting to the point where we’re putting guys in their respective spots in the order, which adds length and makes us a better ballclub."

In his second at bat of the game, Betts gave the Dodgers early offense. In the 3rd inning, he blasted a two run home run to left field, making it 2-0 on his 11th home run of the season. In the 5th inning, Ohtani padded the lead further. He added a two run shot of his own, with his 36th home run of the season making it 4-0 Dodgers.

Milwaukee found an answer an inning later. William Contreras got the Brewers on the board in the 6th, hitting a two run home run to make it a 4-2 game, his 14th home run of the season. Betts answered right back for the Dodgers, hitting a single to right field in the 7th that scored Ohtani and made it a 5-2 Dodgers lead.

Clayton Kershaw got his first win of the season in his start for the Dodgers, allowing one run in 5 2/3 innings, striking out 6 hitters. Joe Kelly gave up the other run before Alex Vesia, Michael Kopech, and Daniel Hudson closed out the win, with Hudson getting his 9th save of the season.

In his start for the Brewers, Freddy Peralta allowed 4 runs on 5 hits and two walks in 6 innings pitched, picking up 4 strikeouts. Bryan Hudson gave up one run in the 7th inning before Bryse Wilson struck out 3 hitters in two scoreless innings.

Peralta said after his start "I’m feeling healthy. All the pitches are good. Sometimes you don’t get the results you are expecting. I just have to keep going, keep battling, keep fighting. I just need a little break, that’s it. And I know it’s coming. I know everything is going to be alright at the end of the day."

Game two of the 4 game series is lined up for Tuesday night. Gavin Stone gets the start for the Dodgers as they go for their 5th win in a row, while Colin Rea takes the mound for the Brewers as they try to even the series up.
