Spencer Torkelson homered and drove in 3 runs, Parker Meadows added a homer, and the Detroit Tigers defeated the Chicago White Sox with a 6-3 victory Monday night in Chicago.

On the strength of a 5 run 7th inning, the Tigers won their 4th straight game and 7th in 10 games, getting back to .500 at 66-66. Torkelson's home run that padded the Tigers lead was a big reason why as they handed the White Sox their 31st blown save of the season.

Detroit manager AJ Hinch said of the win streak "We want to play winning baseball. We've had to do a lot to get to this point, but it's just this point. The season is not over. It hasn't been over. We're going to continue to show up ready to play every day."

Andrew Vaughn got the White Sox on the board in the first inning when Luis Robert Jr scored on his sac fly. Vaughn then doubled the lead in the 3rd inning with an RBI single to right field, scoring Nicky Lopez to make it 2-0. In the 5th inning, Colt Keith got the Tigers on the board with an RBI single, scoring Kerry Carpenter.

Meadows tied the game for the Tigers in the 7th inning, hitting his 5th home run of the season to make it a 2-2 deadlock. Jace Jung gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead later in the inning with an RBI single before Torkelson's 3 run home run made it a 6-2 game. In the 8th inning, Andrew Benintendi made it a 6-3 game with a solo home run to right field.

Ty Madden was called up from Triple A and made his MLB debut for the Tigers, allowing two runs in 5 innings pitched. Sean Guenther pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings before Beau Brieske allowed a run in 1 1/3 innings. Tyler Holton worked the 9th and picked up his 5th save of the season.

Hinch said of Madden's debut "He didn't get sped up. He did a good job collecting himself and continuing to pump some strikes and get out of those innings. He could've gone out for another, but we wanted him to end on a positive note."

Davis Martin allowed a run on 7 hits and a walk in 5 innings in his start for the White Sox. Jared Shuster took the fall by allowing 4 runs in 1 1/3 innings. Justin Anderson allowed a run while finishing the 7th before Sammy Peralta pitched two scoreless innings.

White Sox interim manager Grady Sizemore said after the game "The Tigers are pesky hitters; they put the ball in play. They were giving us tough at-bats the whole series. It was just a tough outing. Shu's been great for us. Sometimes, it happens. We haven't had a lot of things go our way, and they put together a good inning."

Both teams start their next series at home on Tuesday. Brant Hunter will get the start for the Tigers as they take on the Los Angeles Angels, while the White Sox send ace Garrett Crochet to the hill against the Texas Rangers.
