They took the term "walk off" a little too literally. Luke Raley drove in a pair of runs, Mitch Haniger was the hero, and the Seattle Mariners defeated the Philadelphia Phillies with a 6-5 victory Saturday night in Seattle.

After hanging 10 runs on the Phillies in the first game of the series, the Mariners scored 5 unanswered runs to rally and win in extra innings, picking up their 6th win in 10 games. Haniger's walk off was his 7th, tying him with Jim Presly for the most in Mariners history.

Kyle Schwarber scored in the first inning on a groundout by Alec Bohm, giving the Phillies a 1-0 lead. In the 5th, Bohm tripled the Phillies lead, making it a 3-0 game with a two run single to right center field. Brandon Marsh hit a two run single as well to make it 5-0 before a solo home run by Haniger made it 5-1.

Seattle manager Scott Servais said of Haniger that "He's had great years here where he's hit the long ball. He's been really consistent at the plate. It's been a little frustrating for him, like a lot of our guys early in the season, to get it going. But players that have played as long as he has in the league, they feel it. He's starting to feel it and we need it."

Jorge Polanco kickstarted the rally in the 6th for the Mariners, hitting an RBI single to make it a 5-2 game. Raley came up and added a two run double to right field, cutting the deficit to 5-4. Josh Rojas added an RBI single of his own to tie the game after 6 innings. It stayed tied until Haniger drew a bases loaded walk in the 10th to secure the win.

Bryce Miller allowed 4 runs in 4 1/3 innings in his start for the Mariners. Tayler Saucedo got one out in the 5th while giving up one run before JT Chargois pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Yimi Garcia, Austin Voth, Andres Munoz, and Collin Snider all held the Phillies offense scoreless down the stretch.

Orion Kerkering pitched the first inning as an opener for the Phillies before Kolby Allard gave up one run over 4 innings pitched as the bulk pitcher. Jeff Hoffman gave up 4 runs in one inning before Matt Strahm and Jose Alvarado had scoreless appearances. Carlos Estevez got the loss in the 10th inning.

Phillies catcher JT Realmuto said of the team's 6th straight loss "We have too much talent in this clubhouse and we have the right guys in here to withstand something like this, and hopefully be better on the other side for it. Obviously, we would like it to end tonight, tomorrow, as soon as possible, we want this to be over. But we have faith in this clubhouse that we’ll get the job done."

The series concludes Sunday afternoon. The Mariners go for the sweep as Logan Gilbert gets the start, while Zack Wheeler goes for the Phillies as they try to snap their losing streak and salvage a game in the series.
