Johan Rojas drove in 3 runs, Weston Wilson hit for the cycle, and the Philadelphia Phillies trounced the Washington Nationals with a 13-3 victory Thursday night in Philadelphia.

Only one day after hanging 9 runs on the Miami Marlins, the Phillies erupted for 13 more against another division rival in the Nationals. Though it's only their 5th win in 10 games, the 17 hit game and 22 runs in two games are surely a welcome sign for the Phillies.

The day was extra special for Wilson. He contributed 4 of the 17 hits for the Phillies and hit for the cycle, becoming the 9th player to do it in Phillies history. The last player to do it was JT Realmuto against the Arizona Diamondbacks in June of 2023 and the last to do it at home was David Bell in June of 2004 against the Montreal Expos, who later became the Nationals.

Wilson said after the game "It’s honestly kind of a blur to me right now. I’m just trying to process everything. I think it’s a testament to perseverance, staying with everything. It hasn’t been easy, but last year against them was my first game. To have that moment last year and this one, it’s really cool."

Alec Bohm gave the Phillies a 3-0 lead in the first inning with a 3 run home run before Nick Castellanos went back to back, making it 4-0 with a solo shot. In the 4th inning, the Phillies opened up a 9-0 lead thanks to RBI singles by Rojas, Castellanos, and Bryce Harper, plus a two run double by Trea Turner.

Keibert Ruiz made it 9-1 in the 5th, getting the Nationals on the board with a solo home run. In the 6th, Jacob Young scored on a groundout to make it 9-2 before another solo shot by Ruiz in the top of the 7th made it 9-3. In the bottom of the 7th, Wilson hit a solo home run and Kyle Schwarber scored on an error to make it 11-3. Rojas drove in two runs in the 8th with a single to make it a 13-3 game.

Zack Wheeler made the start for the Phillies and allowed two runs on 3 hits while striking out 6 hitters in 6 innings pitched. Orion Kerkering allowed a run in the 7th inning before Tanner Banks pitched a shutout 8th inning and Max Lazar did the same in the 9th.

Mitchell Parker was tagged for 9 runs on 10 hits and two walks while lasting 3 innings in his start for the Nationals. Eduardo Salazar pitched two scoreless innings before Tanner Rainey allowed a pair of runs in 1 2/3 innings and Orlando Ribalta gave up two more in 1 1/3 innings.

Game two of the 4 game series is all set for Friday night. Aaron Nola starts for the Phillies as they go for their 3rd straight win, while Patrick Corbin gets the ball for the Nationals as they try to even the series.
