The Minnesota Twins have placed DH Nelson Cruz on the 10 day IL retroactive to May 14 with a strained left wrist. Cruz left Sunday's loss to the Tigers with wrist pain, and had reportedly been playing through it, but said it felt worse after swinging at a pitch. Initially, Cruz thought he avoid a IL stint because the MRI came back negative. Cruz was batting .270 with 9 homers and 22 RBI this season. Infielder Luis Arraez was called up from Triple A Rochester to take Cruz's roster spot. He is hitting .322 this season between Double and Triple A.

Star SS Trea Turner has been activated from the IL after missing 6 weeks after breaking his finger on a bunt attempt. He returned to the lineup in the Nats game tonight against the Chicago Cubs. The Nationals shortstops had a .627 OPS, 5th worst in the majors, during his absence. Among other moves made by the Nats, Wilmer Difo was optioned to Triple A Fresno, Anibal Sanchez was placed on the 10 day IL, and Kyle McGowin was called up from Fresno.

Toronto Blue Jays righty Aaron Sanchez left his start against the Chicago White Sox in the 4th inning with a blister on his right middle finger, the team announced. He opened the fourth by hitting James McCann, throwing a wild pitch, and walking Nicky Delmonico, prompting a visit from Charlie Montoyo and the team trainer. He then left the game and Sam Gaviglio took over. Sanchez was limited to 8 starts in 2017 due to blisters and his 2018 season was cut short due to a different finger injury, and had to leave a start in Oakland earlier this year after breaking a fingernail. He has a 3.88 ERA with 50 strikeouts this season.
