The Atlanta Braves have signed C Travis D'Arnaud to a two year, $16 million contract, the team announced Sunday afternoon. D'Arnaud found his groove with the Tampa Bay Rays this season, hitting .263 with 16 homers and 67 RBI in 92 games. He started the season with the New York Mets, then went to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and was then dealt to the Rays.

D'Arnaud is a good defensive catcher as well, finishing tied for 5th in Fangraphs' defensive rating in the AL. Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos is familiar with D'Arnaud, trading for him in 2009 as the GM of the Toronto Blue Jays in a trade that sent the late Roy Halladay to the Philadelphia Phillies. He traded D'Arnaud to the Mets a few years later for RA Dickey. The Braves have spent $69 million already this offseason, signing D'Arnaud, Chris Martin, and Will Smith
